Natural Herbs to Prevent Stroke

Did you know that Stroke is the third leading cause of death in America? Are you aware that it is also one of the major factor responsible for causing physical deformity. You must also be surprised to know that the incidences of strokes are increasing primarily because of our unhealthy living styles. These facts must have sent a chill down your spine for sure. Read on more in the article to know how stroke prevention is possible naturally, how you can easily recover from a stroke if you follow some natural guidelines revolving around your health.

An Introduction to Stroke

Strokes are terrible, they might ruin your life. Whenever you have a stroke a portion of your brain dies and thus makes your brain weak and dull. This has a major impact on practically each aspect of your life be it memory, your moods and thoughts, your thinking power, your speech everything seems to be affected by the same.

What is a Stroke?

A stroke is a medical condition which occurs when the blood supply and oxygen to your brain is cut off suddenly or else the brain vessel bursts suddenly inside your brain. The former one is called as ischemic stroke and the latter one is called as hemorrhagic stroke. Since oxygen is regarded as the primary fuel of brain, a lack of it will result in serious neurological disorders and may even cause paralysis.

Symptoms of Stroke

There are different symptoms of stroke which might be helpful to you to know if you or your near one has suffered a stroke:

· Difficulty in talking

· Difficulty in understanding

· Numbness on one side

· Excessive pain in head

· Trouble with walking

· Blurred vision

· Vomiting

· Facial pain

· Stiff neck

It is no doubt a grim situation and needs an urgent call, however there is a good news too. It is said that if emergency care is obtained within a first few hours of stroke then treatment of stroke becomes easier and recovery is faster. It needs to be told that strokes are preventable if we take into account a few essential factors which we will discuss here.

· Just ask the patient to SMILE. If only half of the mouth is opened then doctor needs to be consulted.

· Ask the patient to TALK. If he is able to speak normally then no problem but if the language is slurred or he finds difficulty in pronouncing words, then medical assistance is required.

· Ask the patient to close their eyes and then RAISE their arms. If there is difficulty in raising one or both the arms then assistance is needed.

Preventing Strokes Naturally

Olive Leaf Extract: Almost everyone of us are aware with the benefits of olive oil but a recent study has brought about a connection between olive oil and stroke prevention. The study pointed out that those who used olive oil in their diet were 41% less likely to suffer from stroke than those who do not used olive oil at all. The compound responsible for stroke prevention is Oleuropein which is found in larger quantities in the olive leaves. The olive leaf extract is known to reduce the blood pressure and thereby the chance of stroke too gets reduced.

Hibiscus: It is not just a beautiful flower rather it has lots of medicinal value too. Studies have shown that hibiscus helps in lowering down the blood pressure. This is due to the presence of anthocyanins in the flower. It helps to keep the blood vessels in a relaxed position and thus blood pressure is reduced.

Indian Gooseberry: It is also known as “Amla” in India. This is said to be excellent in controlling your cholesterol levels. It helps to reduce inflammation which is one of the major reasons for heart diseases and strokes. Though it has been used in various foods but taking a strong extract will help to heal you faster.

Omega 3 fatty acids: For giving a boost to your brain cells as well as to your heart, omega 3 fatty acids are a must in your diet.

Tea: According to a report published in 2009, the researchers have concluded that those who drank at least three cups of black tea or green tea were at a lower risk (21% lesser) of suffering from stroke.

Apart from this you need to maintain a healthy weight, go for exercise daily for at least 20 minutes. You also need to lower the intake of salt in your diet. Little changes in your daily lifestyle too can go a long way in reducing and preventing strokes.
