Your Success Starts with Self

I grew up in a small town called Whitesburg, Georgia. As a poor Woodard girl, I had to make my own living and opportunities.

Know Who You Are

Most often a book is judged by its cover. You don't get another chance for a first impression. Strive to be the best you can be.

Success is about building relationships, making connections, and becoming robust. In today’s businesses, one size does not fit all! We are not boy scouts or girl scouts! We don’t need fancy clothes or a fancy car. We just need to be motivated.

There is an abundance of motivational strategies that can affect productivity and put cash in our businesses. Affecting productivity can be either a good or a bad outcome.

Staying positive, focused, committed and active are motivational strategies that can influence productivity. The more enthusiastic we are, the better we do our job and the better our performance. Thinking positive chases away the blues.

A negative person lacks initiative, doesn’t believe in self and jumps to conclusions before weighing all the evidence. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and discouraged. Sometimes the heaviness of day after day problems, setbacks, the nagging feeling of despair and the need for fulfillment can bring one down. I am sad to say, but we can be our worst enemy.

Hanging around active people is also another strategy. I am very much an optimistic person. I tend to encourage people to reach higher for what they want in life.

Everywhere you will find negative people and active people. Typically, the negative person doesn’t grow. The positive ones are always at work with a smile on their face just waiting to accomplish the daily task.

Become a Positive Person - Planning and Goal Setting

Source

Having goals is a must have for the Entrepreneur to become productive. A goal setting person is habitually a hard working person that knows what he or she wants out of life. Goal setting people are lucky people. Make an accurate list every morning with things to accomplish for that particular day; doing this helps me to stay motivated and focused on what I need to achieve.

Just always remember, we cannot become successful without accepting that everyone has problems. We are all human and have different situations.

Critical Thinking

We are what we eat, and are what we think! Critical thinking; defined as a type of rational thinking about what to believe or what to do in any given situation. Critical thinking can help an individual clarify goals, assumptions, evidence, and also contribute to accomplishing actions; always looking at the big picture in any given situation.

Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.

— Lao Tzu

We Need Other People

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is the success.

— Henry Ford

Success is attaining your dream while helping others to benefit from that dream materializing.

— Sugar Ray Leonard

Be All You Can Be - Have Your Cake and Eat it Too

Be an early bird - Champions take advantage of their daylight hours; They stretch-jog in place-meditate before hitting the shower. Get to work fifteen to twenty minutes early.

Dress for success - Wear appropriate shoes and outfit. Get noticed by being a person that shows confidence not by what you are wearing. Always carry a briefcase (always).

Eat healthily - Never skip breakfast; have your coffee, muffin, and fruit on the patio. Pack a healthy lunch and snack. Substitute a donut for an apple or banana, soda for a bottle of water.

Stand firm against temptation - the temporary pleasure is not worth it; never be disloyal to you. Take control of your ship. Say, “I am better than that”; Reach for higher goals, be a winner!

Be a problem solver - Be thankful for the challenge. Turn your negatives into positives.

Be optimistic. Sometimes we do all the talking. We must learn to listen to others. Learn to pay attention. Seek out a solution. Sometimes it requires sleeping on it. Sometimes a problem has a way of working itself out. Do deal with issues as soon as possible.

Be determined to succeed - Focus on your future; increase in knowledge, do your homework per say. Plan ahead, make “to do” lists. Don’t become so comfortable in the here and now that you fail to plan ahead.

Budget your time and money - Stop wasting time and money on things that don't matter. Those things go beyond need and represent desire. The way you spend your time and money builds character. Hold yourself accountable. Remember saving for a rainy day has its rewards.

Do not get in a rush - Take the time to smell the coffee brewing, the muffins baking in the oven. When you get behind a slow driver, take a deep breath and think about having that happy face. Never wait until the last day or minute to complete a task.

Know your value - Love yourself; be patient when you deal with rejection, hold your head up high because rejection is simply somebody else’s opinion. Know your talents and take advantage of them. Know your priorities. Don’t pass up networking opportunities.

Speak honestly - Your words could come back to bite you. Give yourself some breathing room. We live in a complex society; sometimes biting your tongue is the right response. Never point fingers. Know the facts and don’t be so opinionated. Offer and use constructive criticism. Speak directly and truthfully when questioned. Don’t assume people know what you meant to say.

Avoid arguments - Stand up and look the person in the eye, listen carefully, stay calm and don’t be defensive. Always respond to the problem, not the person. Evaluate the situation and then respond. Always be polite and never hold a grudge.

Take walks daily - Walking helps clear your mind, releases stress, and burns calories. Walking helps keep you physically and emotionally fit. Remember to wear appropriate shoes and attire when going for longer walks.

To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone, and a funnybone. Reba McEntire

Stand up for Yourself

"Don't ever criticize yourself. Don't go around all day long thinking, 'I'm unattractive, I'm slow, I'm not as smart as my brother.' God wasn't having a bad day when he made you... If you don't love yourself in the right way, you can't love your neighbor. You can't be as good as you are supposed to be". Joel Osteen

Don't let Others Pull You Down

In reality, people will tell you that you can't do, achieve it, or own it. However, you must shake that negativity off and kick it to the curb. Show them you can be successful, you can achieve success, and you can own your success.

Love Makes the World go Around - Success Comes With Love

Unconditional love has no restrictions; A love that asks no questions. Show or express love by wishing others to be happy is a good start. Giving of one’s self, giving without expecting anything in return; it’s about what we give not what we get.

Perform an act of kindness every day with love alone; practice makes it a habit. Helping someone when he is down, going out of your comfort zone. It doesn’t matter if we think the person is worthy or not. We shouldn’t hesitate to do good for our neighbor. Do it without anyone knowing.

For example, you can send email, text, or a card to someone whom you have not been in touch with for quite a while. Give compliments to other people. Go out of your comfort zone to speak to someone. You can give a smile to a stranger passing by. Do small things with great love each day. It will do your heart good and watch your heart expand to more love.

We learned about dignity and decency - that how hard you work matters more than how much you make... that helping others means more than just getting ahead yourself.

— Michelle Obama

Well written with some valid points. I also like to write things down, make lists and work at goals I have written down. Nice article!

So your initial goal as an entrepreneur should not be to make money or serve customers necessarily, it should be to learn how to have a sustainable business. This thinking is similar to the thinking behind creating healthy relationships with people around you by creating a healthy relationship with yourself.
