Art In Thankfulness

The link between spirituality and gratitude has recently become a popular subject of study. While these two characteristics are certainly not dependent on each other, studies have found that spirituality is capable of enhancing a person’s ability to be grateful and therefore, those who regularly attend religious services or engage in religious activities are more likely to have a greater sense of gratitude in all areas of life.

Thankfulness Is Owed

Thankfulness is an appreciation that we owe God and subsequently to ourselves. We owe it to God first, because we don’t appreciate ourselves as much as God does. He first loved us. In the Bible, see the Israelites’ appreciation did not last long after God told Moses to tell Pharaoh to "let My people go from Egypt so that they may serve the Me." https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exodus+5:1&version=NKJV . It was eventually done. The Israelites were freed as the Lord performed a miracle while the Israelites were crossing the sea to freedom. The appreciation for God’s intervention was apparently too short. However, the Israelites showed displeasure in the efforts of God to free them from that bondage. Many of us react the same way today. After praying to God to help us get over a situation, illness or a difficult task then we find a reason or excuse to be dissatisfied and start showing a lack of appreciation for what God has already done.

When Would You Show Thankfulness?

  • Is it appropriate to show thankfulness as much as possible to people?
  • Is showing thankfulness a strength or weakness?
  • Should you show it only when necessary?
  • Should God be shown thankfulness at all times?

Thankfulness Is Best With Giving It All To Him

Source

Thankfulness Can Work Better For Anyone

The point here is for us to think back and thank God for all He has done for those that believe in Him and consider themselves to be His people. We are expected to live now, with thankfulness in our hearts, at all times. God wants all to of us display our thankfulness at all times. He created us to be as such. Now, allow me to deviate for just a moment here. I see questions here asking, does God or Jesus really exist? It is really a question that according to my long standing belief since childhood that I would say, of course! God answers prayers in a way that is sometimes best for the person asking and sometimes, He gives what is asked for. For instance, I was dating a young lady for a very short while but had known her for nearly six or seven months. I liked her professionalism as well as the way she looked. I felt she was marriage material so, I prayed to the Lord that I would like her to become Mrs. Me. Well, after one date with her I had a change of mind. The date turned out to be a life learning disaster. I realized that God had given me what I had asked for but it was not what was for her or me. God wants us to be thankful for the things that He has designed for our lives. We need to rely solely on what God has in store for us and keep our hands off as we seek through the grace of God what is good for us.

It is best to wait with patience and thankfulness for the things that God has in store for His believers. There is such a thing as not having enough faith, thankfulness, patience and etcetera for anything to fall short of achieving. Look at your children today. Do they show as much thankfulness as they should, at all times, for what they have received thus far, in life from you? Children usually take after their parents: boys of their fathers and girls of their mothers if the parents are around. Think of the fathers that are missing from the family. Who are the boys going to follow? Is there a good replacement figure?

In Summary

  • Spirituality is key through all things and obstacles
  • Faithful and optimism moves you forward
  • God is first and foremost over all
  • Thankfulness is a humble art
  • The benefits are amazing and beyond measure
  • It was a privilege, an honor and blessing to present this hub
  • I thank you for reading and listening here today. God bless you!

Great points about being thankful. It is true that we often take God's answers to our prayers for granted. We just move on and forget, like spoiled children. Thank you for highlighting this topic.

Thank you Marlene for your gracious comment. You are doing the right things daily... Yes, when Lawrence came to me he reminded me very much of Stevie W. I tried to help him develop his own. As we worked on 3 other tunes he was doing just that. He even played other instruments like Stevie. He was an amazing talent. He had good, profound reason for his thankfulness. I can't seem to locate him now. I hope and pray he is still around.

As soon as I open my eyes each morning, I thank the Lord for the day. As soon as I close my eyes for the evening, I thank the Lord for the day. Throughout the day, I feel grateful for the people and bounties I have been blessed to receive. The more thankful I am and the more I show it, the more grace I receive. I enjoyed reading your reminder about showing thankfulness. And, by the way, the video is awesome. The music is assuring and the vocalist sings beautifully. He kind of reminds me of Stevie Wonder.

Yes MarleneB, it is wonderful for family to show such thankfulness. That is what God wants us to show each other. I thank you for showing up here. I didn't know of you until I saw your HOTD recently and besides, we are both real estate agents. That's an area to be more thankful for.

I do agree that spirituality has a lot to do with people who show thankfulness. I recently returned from a family reunion. All of my brothers and sisters are spiritual and one of the things that stands out most from the visit is how grateful and thankful everyone was toward one another.

Thankfulness is a great virtue more precious than anything in our life. We always keep receiving something or other from God and people around us throughout our life. It is a great mistake or even sin to be not acknowledging all this and not being thankful.

Your article is a great reminder to all of us about the need and importance of being thankful. Thanks for sharing this wise knowledge.

Much gratitude, my Brother. Since this is a Hub about Gratitude, then it is appropriate here for me to say thank you for your kindness, selflessness and support.

Gratitude is the life-breath of the Supreme and a beauty unparalleled in this Creation. Your excellent Hub is a timely reminder to us all that when we rise and shine at dawn, we have been given another chance by the Creator, to live a loving and selfless day. Higher blessings, my Brother. Much Love.

The studies are correct in showing people who are spiritual tend to be very thankful. I know I became very thankful once I truly understood the price Jesus paid for me. Then, the appreciation extended outward as I began to appreciate everything in my life; family, friends-jobs ect: great hub voted up and useful.
