The Best Ellipticals For Home Use

Updated on May 22, 2011

Best Ellipticals For Home Use - Precor EFX 5.33

The first ever elliptical was invented and developed by a company named Precor.  Precor has a great reputation as far as their ellipticals are concerned.  This elliptical machine is designed to last for years and years.  There is almost no maintenance and it is built sturdy enough to handle anything you put it through.  This model includes an LED display that makes monitoring and tracking your progress throughout a workout both easy and interesting.  This elliptical exerciser also includes a feature that allows you to adjust the angle of the pedals.  This allows you another way to change your workout.  The Precor EFX 5.33 comes with 20 resistance levels and a variable 21' to 23' stride.  It also comes with the best warranty in the industry.  The only bad thing about this elliptical is its price.  For around $4500 it feels like you're on a commercial elliptical that will last a lifetime.

Best Ellipticals For Home Use - Smooth CE 3.6

Smooth Fitness is a company that handles mostly online sales for ellipticals in the mid-price range. As an owner myself I can say personally, that they have excellent service. The Smooth CE 3.6 is an upgrade to the 3.2 model. The Smooth CE 3.6 has pivoting foot pedals that perform like the natural movement of your ankles. This alleviates foot numbness from exercising to long and it helps keep your body aligned to prevent stress in the knees, ankles, and hips. It comes with a wireless heart sensor, several different resistances, and several different pre-programmed workouts to choose from. The Smooth CE 3.6 cost about $1300 and is a very good elliptical for its price range.

Best Ellipticals For Home Use - Sole E25

The Sole E25 is another great mid-range elliptical. The Sole E25 comes with 16 levels of resistance, twelve workouts, and an LCD screen that is capable of tracking time, distance, and calories. The Sole E25 comes with angled foot pedals that prevent stress from forming in the joints. The Sole E25 elliptical trainer comes in at a few hundred dollars less than the Smooth CE 3.6 at around $1,000 and is a great value.

Best Ellipticals For Home Use - Schwinn 430

The Schwinn 430 elliptical trainer is the best elliptical I have found for less than $1000. The elliptical machines comes with an 18' stride, heart rate sensor, 8 resistance levels, and 8 pre-programmed workouts. It comes with articulating footpads and an Eddy current brake system. Both Articulating footpads and Eddy current brake systems are unheard of in an elliptical that cost less than $1000. This elliptical can usually be found around the $550 - $600 mark.
