The Colon Cleanse Scam

Updated on December 22, 2016

Is all the hype about a Colon Cleanse just Scam?

As soon as you see those photos of people holding those disgusting rope like substances that they have just expelled from their bodies, a whole rush of thoughts invade you. What if I have something like that in my colon? Have I got all those disgusting little parasites living in my colon as well?

The very reaction that you have is the exact same reaction that they are purposefully eliciting. It is called "Repulse Marketing". Take someones dirt and rub it in their face until they are so disgusted at themselves that they buy your product.

Now lets look at things clearly. Who in their right mind, would take a picture or get someone else to take a picture of themselves holding up and displaying their POOH? Then to top it all, they publish the photo of themselves holding this disgusting product of their body, on the internet and in local papers, for millions of people to see.

Why would any normal person do something like that? Simple, they are making money by doing it. They are deliberately trying to repulse you into buying their product.

So is the whole colon cleanse thing a scam? Well it might be a scam and it might not be a scam. There is definitely a sense of the word scam when it comes to these highly advertised colon cleanse products that show these disgusting photo's. I have never seen any stools that even remotely resemble these disgusting rubbery like ropes that these people display.

Before we continue further I would like to add that most people who look at the colon cleansing principle do so with weight loss in mind. In most cases a sensible diet and a good fat burner like Phen375 is sufficient to burn fat and also get you back into shape. The diet supplied by Phen375 as well as the water consumption plan will be sufficient to get your colon back into good working order without you having your backside stuck to a toilet seat for hours because of a laxative type colon cleanse product.

The Colon.
The Colon.

How is the colon cleanse scam created.

In order to alarm people into buying your product, you first have to find a problem, then you magnify the problem, and then lastly you provide the solution. In the case of the colon cleanse scam, they have found a problem. Yes we do get a build up of decaying matter on our colons that does cause serious health problems, but I will discuss that just now. They found the problem in the build up of plaque in the colon. Now they had to monetize and cash in on this opportunity and so they had to find a way to dramatize the problem.

Many of the colon cleanse products today contain psyllium which is bulk producing. What exactly is bulk producing. Wikipedia describes it as" Bulk-producing agents cause the stool to be bulkier and to retain more water, as well as forming an emollient gel ". There, the riddle of the rubber stools are solved. The rubber like substance that is produced is not what was inside of you but is a direct result of the substance that you took in the colon cleanse product.

Psyillium (metucil) and Methyl cellulose are two substances that are used in many of the colon cleanse products and both are considered to be bulk-producing agents. There is a constant danger with bulk producing agents that when they do not have enough water, they can actually worsen the constipation and be the cause of the blockage.

Common Colon Cleanse Methods.

There are a variety of methods that are advocated for the cleansing of the colon.

1) Enema. This involves the insertion of a liqued into the colon via the rectum. There are many advocates of the enema and its health giving properties. Perhaps the most famous advocate of the enema was Lady Di. Although enema's are effective in clearing the lower colon, they do not reach deep enough to cleanse the entire colon and intestine area. You can learn more about enemas here. It is recommended that an enema should not be administered more than once a month due to the danger of pressure damage to the tender colon muscles.

2) Colon Hydrotherapy. In this medical procedure, a nozzle is inserted inside the anus and water is gently sprayed into the colon and then removed. This process is repeated until the colon is considered clean. Whilst this method reaches far higher into the colon and is far more effective than the enema, It is performed with specialist equipment and by a medically qualified professional.

3) Laxatives. Laxatives can be either chemical or herbal. They tend to all perform in relatively the same method, by irritating the colon and causing the faeces to be removed. Laxative abuse can lead to intestinal paralysis, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatitis, renal failure and other problems.

4) Oxy powder is the latest colon cleanse product to hit the market. Oxy powder is taken orally and releases an oxygen formula into the intestines and colon which effectively liquidizers the compacted fecal matter lining, leaving the colon sparkling clean without risking any of the side effects that can be associated with other colon cleansing methods.

Fecal matter does build up in the colon and contributes to weight gain, sickness, decreased vitamin uptake, decreased energy levels, increased toxins, and general lethargy.

Good Colon Health for Weight Loss.

Our colon is directly impacted by the food that we eat. Modern food and especially fast foods are not very colon friendly. A good diet consisting of lots of fruit and vegetables, combined with lots of water, will help to prevent any colon plaque. The fruits and vegetables contain natural hydrogen peroxide which will automatically cleanse your colon through oxygen therapy. The diet will also leave you a lot healthier and full of energy, combined with a drastically reduced cancer risk rate, in comparison to the modern day diet of fast foods and microwave meals.

When your colon is sluggish it does impact on your metabolism and so you will find that your metabolism will be slow, you will gain weight easily and will have a loss of energy.

      @More Horse Sh-t

Pity you did not read past that as you would have seen that fruit and vegetables perform a very similar function to oxypowder.

Thank you for your fabulous article, John. It was most educational. You have definitely helped create an awareness of how important it is to fuel our bodies with clean (non processed) foods. My family ingest only home grown, organic substances. I feel truly cleansed in all aspects of my life because of this choice.

      Dear John

Loved this article and you know, Lisa really did well to explain how to use the apostrophe.

And Lisa, thank you for teaching me how to spell PLEURAL. I always thought it was PLURAL. Seems I learnt far more than even John intended me to.

Umm, Lisa. Kind of hypocritical when you can't even spell the word plural. LOL!

There is no evidence to support the theory that diseases may arise via "autointoxication," whereby poisonous substances from stools within the colon are absorbed. The idea that putrefaction of the stools causes disease, i.e., intestinal autointoxication, originated with physicians in ancient Egypt. By the 1920s, the medical doctrine fell into disrepute as scientific advances failed to give support. However, the idea persists in the public mind.

Get off your high horse!! John has just provided a decent service on an important subject and all you can comment on is his grammar?

I can tell that you are just one of those people that clearly is never happy with your life and want to bring your dark clouds over to other people's (apostrophe for ownership of life!) lives too!

John, ignore the negative and be proud of the positive - Most people will have benefited from this informative article.

what you say makes sense, but every time you make you make something pleural (more than one such as there were three girls) you add an apostrophe, which is for ownership (the girl's purse). It's basic second grade grammar! sorry, but you're too old to be making that mistake over and over.
