The Love of a Good Bed

The Happy Place

There is lot to be said about spending 1/3 of our life away almost comatose. It’s such a
simple word, SLEEP. And my personal
opinion, most of us don’t get enough of it. I mean, there’s nothing like fresh
sheets on a good bed, the HUM of an air conditioner or fan maybe both just in
case you have little barking dogs and the nice neighbors have bigger barking
dogs and don’t forget your favorite pillow.

Big Beds & Little Beds

When you were a child, you just don’t
think about it, or at least I didn’t, it was a place where I slept and put all
my stuffed animals. You grow up, and you go to college, you are so broke, and
tired of studying that you still don’t think about it .Or just moving out on
your own at the age of 19 you would be grateful if you didn’t sleep on the
floor on a mattress. When I got married,
it was the 80’s so my husband talked me into getting a big groovy water bed,
and I didn’t much care for it. But when my first baby arrived, it was so wonderful of a
time, I didnt care about the water bed.And then I got the most expensive baby bed with matching everything. We had a baby
shower, had to put all the new baby stuff in a Hope Chest. Then I had the
second child, and he was so pretty, but I didn’t get him a new baby bed, I wonder why... I found
a good used one at a yard sale. By the third, I found a youth bed, put him in
it, so I can put the smaller baby in the baby bed. WHEW!

But I was so sleep
deprived, when I DID go to bed, I feel into it like a big red oak, with tangled hair
and I wouldn’t doubt have a half a cherrio stuck to my face, hoping to goodness
I didn’t hear the pitter-patter of little feet down the hall. And that water
bed, well I remember telling my husband (at the time) "Hey Big Dano....could you stop the waves, they are making me dizzy." I wasnt a very good Sea Woman. I eventually I talked him into throwing a mattress on top of the BOAT..uh, I mean bed.

Day Dreams
Then we hit the working years as all the children have grown up. Life is supposed to get easier but looks like it's getting harder, with longer hours, and we all know Medicare is not going to do the trick either, in other words, we just thought we were tired. After sometimes a 12 hr shift on my feet, it's a wonder I can push the buttons on the microwave. Yep, Now I Know What Tired is Like.

I used to day dream of buying clothes, jewelry, and hope to even drive a cool red mustang stopped at a red light, pulled up by a big dude in the big truck and REV up my engine. And the big dude in it stickin' his head out and saying out the window,"Hey Little lady, ya want to race?" But now, I catch myself
having fantasies of the 2 greatest couple on earth, Poster and Pedic. And been thinking of visiting their cousins Memory Foam and Number Bed. ( A girl can have fun, can't she?)

Perfect, perfect, PERFECT hub from someone who knows. Everytime I dive into my bed following my long, grueling, 12 hr evening shifts, I relish my bed. So much that I almost KISS the mattress-and have on occasion kissed my pillow.

Loved it-a good bed definitely enhances my quality of life. Rated up and across.
