The Main Causes of High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure, also referred to as hypertension, is defined as abnormal pressure in the arteries.This is when the pressure is higher than 120 over 80.Your physician may measure your blood pressure and inform you if it is elevated.Hypertension, compared to other diseases, has no symptoms.Consequently, individuals never get to know they have the condition until it very late.The majority of individuals develop hypertension because of other diseases.This is what is known as primary high blood pressure.Accordingly, when these other diseases is treated and cured, the blood pressure usually goes back to normal.


Secondary high blood pressure has many other causes that include the following.Such chronic conditions are nephritis, diseases of the adrenal gland, tumors, birth control pills, aorta coarctation, thyroid dysfunction, alcoholism and pregnancy.The narrowing of the aorta is what is believed to lead to coarctation.People are born with the condition.Most of the time, it causes hypertension in your arms.Secondary high blood pressure is cause by a few other causes.Consuming a lot of salt is another factor.Salt is said to increase one’s blood pressure considerably.As a way of managing blood pressure, it is vital that people decrease their salt intake or discontinue its use.Hypertension is also believed to be caused by a variety of drugs.These are amphetamines and diet pills.You are at risk of developing high blood pressure, if you do not exercise on a regular basis and lead a life that is sedentary.
