The Melody of Life

Updated on December 7, 2013

Lovely Notes

The melody of life and through all the ages,

begins at birth, with all its stages,

Loving notes made by a life's daily tone,

by a violin strung, with kind acts shown.

Beautiful sounds from a piano, so fine,

displaying a richness and a heartfelt line.

Wonderful choruses sung for all to share,

in marvelous blends, we find so rare.

Conveying the essence of a warm sunshine,

the special softness of a life sublime,

A human spirit wafting on a gentle wind,

spreading its wings in a message to send.

The soul of a person is revealed to all,

their kindest of acts, whether great or small.

The goodness expressed in every song,

helps the world to feel, that we all belong.

The melody strummed on a golden lyre,

floats in the breeze, by the hum of the choir,

Purveyors of a rhythm that abounds in rhyme,

balancing hopes, a serenading chime.

No matter the age of the listeners there,

or of all their experiences they have to spare.

The grand refrain, that's saved for the end,

a special quality, our differences transcend.

I too was a teacher for many years and saw how the arts gave a spiritual lift to my handicapped students, to carry them far beyond what they thought that they were capable of doing. Thanks for your positive comment.

The poem is a symphony in itself. It feels like something plays so soothingly and splendidly. As a teacher, this piece can be a passage to use in teaching rhyme and other poetic devices which can end up crossing the music curriculum.

As your poem says, different musical instruments play different tones as men live their lives differently, think differently, act differently. Everyone is unique but that uniqueness can transcend cultural boundaries in order to unite common thoughts, common dreams and common aspirations which reside in their core. And that hopefully, everyone comes home to his better self.
