Lower High Blood Pressure Fast With Soursop Leaves
I have hypertension and I hate taking drugs of any kind. I have been off medication for a while. My doctor would quarrel with me whenever I let it get too long before a visit. So I am now sharing with you my secret for surviving hypertension. Hypertension is a serious condition which can lead to strokes and heart attacks. According the American Heart Association, about 76.4 million people in the United States alone suffer from hypertension.
What is Hypertension?
Hypertension is where the the pressure of the blood flowing against the artery wall is severely strong. Continued pressure against the walls of the artery can have severe effects resulting in strokes and heart attack. Increased blood pressure can also affect eyesight by damaging blood vessels.
The cause of hypertension is unknown in about 90 percent of the people it affects. When someone has an underlying illness that cause an elevation in the blood pressure this is known as secondary hypertension and this can be corrected as soon as the underlying condition is corrected. An example of secondary hypertension is some who has kidney disease.
The main cause of hypertension is unknown and this is called primary hypertension. Doctors however, do know that there are causes of worsening hypertension and will warn against certain behavior. The following are things your doctor will warn against:-
Soursop leaves water
Three dozen dried or half dried sour sop leaves
3 quarts water
Method: Put water to boil on medium heat. When the water is boiling wash leaves and drop in boiling water. Turn off heat and let steep until infusion is cool. Strain off water and refrigerate.
Have 8oz in the morning and 8oz just before bed. May cause you to urinate more often. This is good because it flushes the salts from the system.
Soursop leaves tea
You can also have a cup of tea in the morning or whenever you feel like.
- You can use the store bought sousop leaves tea bags and steep one bag per cup.
- If using the green leaves from the tree, bring water to a boil, add leaves, cover and turn off flames. Let sit for a few minutes then strain and sweeten to taste.
- If using dry leaves follow green leaves instructions above.
About the Sour Sop
Sour sop grows every where in Jamaica and can be found in the United States, other parts of the Caribbean, South America and Asia. The sour sop is an evergreen tree bearing fruit that are prickly (not sharply so) and green in color. The pulp is white or off-white with a tangy sweet taste with dark brown seeds.
When I was a little girl my grandfather became sick and we were told his nerves were bad. He didn't go crazy or anything, he just couldn't help himself much. When he came from the hospital he requested that I made him a drink from the green sour sop.
Green soursop drink
1 green sour sop fruit - grated
Water to juice it with - preferably jelly coconut water
Lime juice to taste (about 3 medium limes)
Sugar to taste if plain water is used.
Method: grate sour sop, seeds and all, use water to juice it. Add lime and sugar to taste. Serve chilled, over ice or at room temperature.
My grandfather told me this was nerve medicine and in no time he was better.
He also told me that the leaves of the sour sop could be used to make tea and is good for my nerves and blood pressure. I hate the taste of the tea, but recently I was watching a television program about a cancer patient who also had high blood pressure and could not sleep. He said he drank the water made from the boiled leaves and his doctors were amazed at his progress. Not only are they amazed because ten years ago they gave him about one year to live but most of the cancer had regressed and his blood pressure was normal.
I decided to try this sour sop leave water. I have a monitor at home and I must tell you I am a skeptic, but I remember it helped my grandfather. The first night I drank the stuff I slept like a baby, which isn't me. I normally feel unrested when I wake up in the morning and I must tell you that ever since I started during it I feel fine, my energy levels are higher and I don't get tired as easily. My blood pressure reading has significantly reduced since taking it.
