The Truth About Omnivores

Updated on June 14, 2018

In November of 2017 I ended up in the hospital due to severe constipation, but I went vegan and it changed my life around.

Are You Omnivore, And Still Get Contsipated? Here's Why

You can blame the animal kingdom for your bowel issues.

Omnivores have the fewest bowel movements while vegetarians fall into the middle of that category, but vegans have the most with 11.6 men having a bowel movement and 10.5 women.

Vegans have more bowel movements because they live on more fiber than anything, which is what our bodies are supposed to rely on in order to have smooth and frequent bowel movements. Vegetarians so better than the omnivores because they choose to eat less meat than an omnivore, but by far the vegans are the winners when it comes to this because they eat no animal products at all and just go straight for the plant life.

Scientists and doctor's use the Bristol Stool Scale to compare different types of stools in different types of people. If you look it up you want to be at a type 3 or 4. Type 1 and 2 are signs of a severely constipated person.

One product to avoid in order to get to your type 3 or 4 stool is to avoid all dairy products, for no matter how much fiber you intake, dairy can still cause constipation. The proof of it? Well, it's been scientifically known that children that partake in this bad habit went 3 to 15 days without any bowel movements with no response to any laxatives that were given to them. Finally, they cut dairy out of their diet and reintroduced it back in maybe a few months to a few later and had negative effects all over again.

The Choices That I Made That Made Me Suffer

I made some pretty heartbreaking decisions in my diet in my early teen years that made me suffer now as an almost 19 year old young lady.

Why are you vegan? Because I listen to my heart, not my habits.

The Decisions That I have Made That Have Changed My Life For the Better

Vegan Smoothie Bowls:

Sometimes for breakfast in the morning I'll have a vegan smoothie bowl. The benefits of a smoothie bowl are that it is packed of good nutrients such as fiber and protein to get your day started off right in the morning. If you don't know what a smoothie bowl is, it's kind of like a superfood version of ice-cream or oatmeal. You can put any kind of good, healthy breakfast topping into it that your heart desires such as Matcha powder, Chia Seeds, Quinoa Flakes. For your greens you can always add either Kale or Spinach (I usually do Spinach in mine,) and if you want something a little bit sweet, you can always add in some almond butter into it. You can always add toppings on top of your smoothie bowl such as Goji Berries, Bananas, or Coconut flakes.

I love a good, healthy, big breakfast in the morning on my days off from working and a smoothie bowl is what I always try to go for because not only does it help you feel energy throughout the day, but it also helps you have a good bowel movement somewhere in your day.

Kale Salad:

Another good thing that I try to go for maybe for lunch or dinner depending on how I feel after I've had my smoothie bowl is a good kale salad. The reason why is going to be listed down below.

  1. It's low in calorie, high in fiber and has zero fat.
  2. It's high in iron
  3. High in vitamin K
  4. Filled with powerful antioxidants
  5. Anti-inflammatory food
  6. Great for Cardiovascular support
  7. High in vitamin C
  8. High in calcium
  9. High in vitamin A
  10. It's a great detox food

Foods That Cause Constipation

Grains and Dairy:

These two food have been known to cause many bowel diseases such as coeliac disease, which is a disease in which the intestines become gradually destroyed, and crohn's disease, which is a disease in which causes constipation as well as IBS. They can also destroy our Gastrointestinal tracts.

Since I have gone vegan I have still had my days where I do get constipated, but nearly as much anymore. I can get up to three or four bowel movements a day, and it doesn't take nearly as long as it did before. It takes maybe at the most five to ten minutes at a time, which I am extremely proud of.

How to stop your constipation:

  1. Eliminate all dairy
  2. Eliminate all meat, dairy, and eggs
  3. Eliminate all animal foods and processed foods
  4. Eliminate all grains, foods, starches, and processed foods
  5. Eat only raw fruits and vegetables

How You Can Change Your Life Around

How I Changed My Life Around

In my last article I shared how IBS put me in the hospital, and how I had to do a colonoscopy when I was in the hospital, and I went into detail about what a colonoscopy is, so I'm not going to so that here since I did that last time, so if you want to read about that then stop reading this article and go to my other one and read about my sad, long-suffering story. In this one I am going to be sharing 5 detox food that I eat or during in order to get myself cleaned out if I feel bloated or constipated.

  1. Matcha green tea: Matcha is already a superfood, so it will automatically clean you out.
  2. Quinoa
  3. Spinach
  4. Granola bars
  5. Green smoothie/Green drink
