The benefits of drinking water are numerous. Grandmothers and doctors, reminded us the same old saying, drink adequate water for good health. Our body is made up of almost 80% of the water. Without water, our body cells can starve leading to symptoms of tiredness, migraine, dry skin, constipation and overall loss of energy. When we keep our body hydrated, our body cells can function properly. Vital oxygen and nutrients are transported to various parts of the body and our body can function normally with the help of water.

After understanding the benefits of drinking water, the next question is what type of water is key to good health. Do we need to focus on the pH value of the water that we drink? Does it make difference if the water that we drink is alkaline or acidic?

Yes, alkaline water is key to good health. Our body needs to maintain a balance of acid and alkaline and the optimum blood pH of our body is 7.4. Thus, our human body is meant for natural alkaline environment. However, the exposure of environment chemicals and poor food habits lead our body to shift toward acidity. Drinking coffee, eating meats in large quantities, all contribute to acidic lifestyle. Chronic acidic environment of our body can lead to serious diseases like cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, arthritis, weight gain, etc. However, when the pH of our body is balanced, we tend to feel energetic, light and healthy.

Drinking alkaline water can help to shift our body pH level to optimum alkaline and save us from all the negative effects of acidic body environment. Eating green vegetables, avocado and other alkaline foods can also help to regulate and move our pH to healthy level of alkalinity. Optimum pH is a key factor to good health. It can help us maintain healthy weight, less susceptible to diseases, feeling good. Our body has less free radicals to fight and we tend to look young as we bring our body back to optimum alkaline pH. Diseases like cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, seem to be less common in those people who maintain healthy alkaline environment in their bodies.

Water can be acidic or alkaline depending on the environmental conditions. Mostly, the tap water, that we receive in our homes is acidic due to chemical treatment of water with chemicals like chlorine, to kill the bacteria. Hence, it is very important to use appropriate water filters to convert water pH to optimum levels before using it for drinking or cooking purposes.

With the new technology in water era, there are many alkaline water filter available in the market. These alkaline water filter serve the dual purpose. They help to remove the dirt and chemicals from water and at the same time, improve the water pH to optimum levels. So, drink water to your good health. Remember, alkaline water can just add further to the benefit of drinking water.
