May look like an unassuming plain grass with no medicinal benefits. Also called Cymbopogon Lemon Grass,Citronella Grass or Fever Grass, Lemongrass is actually packed with medicinal properties and remedies to relieve an assortment of health problems.

The leaves of lemongrass may have essential oil that is extracted by steam distillation. The leaves are chopped and partly dried before the oil is taken out. It has a sweet aroma and it smells like a lemon. Lemongrass has earthy and citronella-like tinge which helps in reducing high blood pressure.

Lemongrass distilled water aids in relieving pains brought up by tonsillitis and helps in faster healing of mouth infections. It is also effective against toothache and swollen gums (gargle as often as necessary).

Lemongrass distilled water is also good for healing eye infections and cleansing of the digestive tract and the circulatory system. This nutritious water has a high level of beta-carotene and is a powerful antioxidant/antiseptic. It also helps in relieving hypertension and fever.

Drinking a good amount of lemongrass distilled water may also hasten the recovery of an individual who is experiencing sleep disorder which is known to all of us as insomnia.

According to recent studies western medicines which relieves certain diseases, paradoxically, wears off other tissues of the body, thus over reliance to syrups, pills and among others may put other organs of the body in danger. Thus, organic remedy like the lemongrass distilled water is of essence.
