Rose Quartz Crystals

The uses and properties of crystals and gemstones are as varied and numerous as the number of crystals and gemstones in existence. Crystals have been highly valued throughout time. These beautiful stones that come from the earth are adored by adults and children alike. Actually children are often very taken with crystals. Generally they are quite affordable and children can buy a handful of coloured beauties to examine, hold and keep in favourite places. Many different cultures and civilizations have revered these crystals setting them into jewellery such as amulets, talismans and crowns.

Crystal and gem stones work through resonance and vibration. They intensify the human aura helping clarity thoughts, channel energy and heal.

Rose Quartz

Rose quartz has a soft and gentle rose pink colour. It also has a soft and gentle energy. This crystal heals emotions and soothes feelings. If you have been through any kind of emotional hurt or loss it is a good idea to carry a piece of rose quartz with you. Keeping a big piece in the bedroom will enhance physical relationships. Placing rose quartz in the kids bedroom will help create a peaceful and calming atmosphere to assist sleep. If you use this crystal in meditation it will help you develop forgiveness, compassion and love. This crystal will also help anyone with an anger problem so long as they are open to it.

Clear Quartz

This crystal is clear and hence means it helps to bring your clarity. It will help stimulate your psychic abilities. It can also be used to guard against the static energy of computers. If you use your clear quartz to clear static energy, be sure to cleanse it regularly so it keeps working for you.

Commonly known as the 'Travellers Stone', moonstone brings calmness and awareness which stimulates confidence. It is a stone for hopeing and wishing and is very protective.

This mineral never needs clearing as it will not retain negative energy. It promotes clarity and understanding in dream work. It also enhances creativity.

Hematite (silver/grey)

Hermatite is great for grounding your energies in the physical world, so is useful after meditation to bring your awareness fully back to your physical body. Hermatite has a positive effect on your blood and strengthens your physical and etheric bodies improving your immune system, your courage and your willpower.

How to Cleanse Crystals

It is a good idea to cleanse your crystals from time to time to remove any build up of energies. There are a number of ways to do this. The easiest ones are to put under running water and intend that any unwanted energies be washed away to the earth and transmuted into more positive ones or leave in direct sunlight for a few hours. Another option is to wash them in sea salt water - 1 tablespoon of sea salt to 1 litre of water. After washing leave them outside on the earth and allow all the elements to cleanse them. The method I often use to cleanse crystals is to put them outside on the night of a full moon. I place them on the earth in my front garden and am always pleased when I go to retrieve them that they are still there.

Very interesting. I clean my gemstones, set in the ring ofcourse, by washing it under running water and according to Indian astrology it has to be kept overnight dipped in milk and put the next morning.

Thanks for reading carriethomson. Lapis lazuli is rather lovely. The only crystal jewellery I have is a moonstone necklace, otherwise I just have crystals, but lapis lazuli would be a rather striking piece of jewellery. Might keep a look out for some.

I'm also a crystal and gemstone lover! I keep an amethyst in my pillow case, and I usually put another stone into my pocket everyday. Yesterday it was an unpolished (inexpensive) emerald. Emeralds for whatever reason tend to give me energy and keep me focused on my work. My experience with amethysts is that it gives me very lucid and spiritual dreams, and keeps the negative thoughts/energies out of my dreams. The other crystal that I've had experiences with lately is the peridot. I'm not a big fan of the peridot, though. It sort of put me to sleep! Voted up and beautiful, Tebo!

Nathan - Thanks for that bit of information that I didn't know. Interesting. I must say I haven't use sunlight as i tend to go for the moonlight, but that is very interesting. We all learn from each other. Thanks

With all due respect, placing crystals in direct sunlight for cleansing is a false New Age belief. Actually, sunlight destroys both physical and etherical crystal structure, it doesn't cleanse it. Thus, placing crystals in sunlight is a bit irresponsible :).

Hi Movie Master. Yes moonstone is lovely. I really like putting them out on a full moon. It feels mysterious and kind of secretive too. I sneak out hoping no one sees me.

Hi katyzzz. Yes I agree they are beautiful and it is great that they are affordable making them available to everyone who wishes to enjoy them.

Actually funny that you mention that one because although I forgot to include that one in my hub it is the one that I always do. I love it too the full moon thing and if I miss a full moon I feel I've missed something special. I think I will add it to my hub, so thanks.

Love crystals, have quite a collection myself. I read somewhere that another way of cleaning them is to leave them outside during a full moon, which I've done, feeling somewhat witch-like...!!
