February is Heart Month

Updated on September 20, 2016

When Theresa writes poetry, the inspiration comes from her or her family's true life experiences, which results in dramatic poetry.

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

— Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

Loving Your Heart

February is Heart Month
February is Heart Month

Do not Break Your own Heart!

O’ My precious Heart

How do I love you so

I just wanted to let you know

That I promise to care for you

And to never let you go

A lifetime of care I must reconcile

For it is you, my dear heart, I must please

Attaining good stress management

In preventing cardiovascular disease

I know you will love the things I have planned

Taking those steps to walk with you each day

Much joy intended, by just calling a friend

And remembering to smile all along the way

Managing my anger and counting to ten

To help you out, when I do get so stressed

If need be, all day long, listening to a calming song

Remembering to take three to five deep breaths

On my radar, I am placing, our head-heart connection

Giving you a great workout by laughing ever so much

Thereby increasing blood flow for a more healthier you

Good dental hygiene is a must for dramatic impact and such

Maintaining strong friendships and closeness with family

Never desiring for one moment for you to be broken

A diet rich in anti-oxidants, helping to keep you healthy

As it is I, my dear heart, for whom you are forever spoken

O’ My precious Heart

How do I love you so

I just wanted to let you know

That I promise to care for you

And to never let you go

February is HEART Month, and this poem is written to bring awareness as to loving one's heart.

You Can Really Have a "Broken Heart"

According to Behavioral Health Systems, Inc., stress hormones that are released in your body when you experience a dramatic life event such as the death of a loved one or the end of a romantic relationship, may cause symptoms similar to those of a heart attack. These hormones, in some cases, can cause an actual heart attack.

      Hi Mary (Till),

So glad you stopped by to read! Thank you so much for the encouraging words. Yes, I was trying to come up with something a little different to combine Valentine's Day with HEART Month, and so I came up with this to bring awareness on ways to love one's heart. LOL

I had the words lined up across from the imagery at the end, but then I noticed after arriving home, they were not lined up together, so I quickly made amends.

      I appreciate the vote up.

      Hi PS,

Thanks so much for reading my bit of a twist on the norm of a love poem. LOL We must love our hearts, if they are to keep loving . . .

Studies have shown, that something as simple as calling a friend, helps reduce stress our hearts may be feeling. I thought that is so neat. So friends are vital, just as you are my sweet friend!

I just wanted to do a different take on the norm of a Valentine's Day poem, being it is HEART Month.

      Hi teaches,

So great to see you stopping by! I appreciate your wonderful comments which add much to the subject of this hub. Yes, going from the weekend to just even thinking about the work week on Monday, may trigger stress levels of which we are not even aware.

The poem was an afterthought, with it being right around the Valentine's Day holiday and February being HEART Month, I thought I would do a little something different and write a love poem to my heart. LOL Seriously though, we really do need to "love" our heart and take care of it.

Oh, I remember the pain of a broken heart. It is a physical pain, heavy, as if one's heart is filled with lead. It is difficult to breath with such a heavy heart. I remember I've described it as 'a heavy monkey hanging on my ribs'.

Yes, I thought I would write a different take of a love poem (lol), one to my heart being that February is HEART Month, as I have stated here before, to bring awareness to taking care of one's heart. Actually, I did just publish a hub to run alongside this poem on the effects of loneliness on the heart too.

You have vividly painted with words the pain of a broken heart.

Yes, if we are to live in this world, we are surely going to go through such trials, many of every kind.

What a perfect song for this hub. I received an email from an old family friend today, (really sort of like an older sister-someone I love very much) and she is having bad depression about losing her husband and her family thinks she should not talk about him so much because it hurts her so but I know you cannot just tell someone that. I advised her she could talk to me or herself in email if it was too private or even to her husband who has passed on. When loved ones pass on it is their end (she knows it is his beginning as we do) but it isn't ours and we will always somehow be reaching out to them. Love never dies and you have written about my friend...please help me pray for her. God bless you.

I have written a hub to go along with this hub, and it is about the effects of being lonely on the heart, and I don't know if will be of help to you to help your friend, but prayer is the most powerful no doubt in my mind.

Thank you for sharing here this day.

This friend was my sister's friend actually but got really close to my mom and whole family staying over and loved Mom as we did. She use to read me here but besides the depression she suffers she fell and broke an arm and leg on the same side and could not have the set made right on one because of having COPD so she needs prayer desperately.
