Nutrition and Fitness Overview

Nutrition is a fundamental part of your health and well-being, which makes it unquestionably an area that needs constant care and improvement if you want to get the most out of it.

Fortunately, many people jump on this train realizing that nutrition has a key role in improving quality of life. Good nutritional habits genuinely have the potential of improving your work performance and efficiency by decreasing the risk of getting ill or injured, which at the same time gives you the opportunity to enjoy life more.

As a result, nutrition and fitness are a continuously increasing trend, being part of the Health and Wellness industry, which according to the Global Wellness Institute was worth $4.2 Trillion in 2017.

Since I've always been a person extremely interested in nutrition, I've searched and studied a lot of channels and people that have the experience behind and results that speak by themselves.

So, with that in mind, I would like to share with you Top 5 Underrated Nutrition and Fitness Youtube Channels that guided me and established the nutritional principles I'm following right now.

Channels that should get much more attention and awareness judging by the enormous value they provide.

Some contradict with each other or even had disputes in the past, but the thing is that everyone has a different perspective based on their experience, so I just take the advice that I think will work for me and experiment with it, then if it doesn't work I try something else until I find what works best for me.

Layne Norton(BioLayne)
Layne Norton(BioLayne) | Source

BioLayne

Layne Norton is a scientist, professional powerlifter and bodybuilder, personal trainer and the founder of Carbon supplements.

Throughout his career, Layne published multiple scientific publications and gathered quite a few achievements, both as a powerlifter and as a bodybuilder.

At the same time, Layne is a man on a mission to debunk the modern nutritional myths and the health "influencers" that fool people with miracle foods, supplements or different diets in order to make money.

He does that by citing actual relevant and well-conducted scientific studies. At first, he kind of looks arrogant and big-mouthed but by watching more of his content, I tend to think it is because he puts a lot of work reading, searching and experimenting every trend or knowledge propelled by big companies, media or influencers, so he clearly has a lot to express and disclose to the world.

Jordan Syatt

Jordan Syatt

Apart from being a 27th-degree black belt in chugging coffee, Jordan is the epitome of a witty, straight-forward and trustworthy "guru" of the health industry.

I mean, what can you expect from a five-time World Record Powerlifter, Precision Nutrition and Westside Barbell Coach that has a Bachelors of Science in Health & Behavior Science with a focus on Strength & Conditioning.

With over 900 videos on his channel, covering everything you need know about nutrition, health, and fitness, including the priceless content, focused on his journey through life, past mistakes and lessons learned, I can honestly say this is one of the most underrated health channels on Youtube.

His funny, interactive, enthusiastic and bright way of explaining and giving recommendations is something few people possess. Like Layne Norton, he dismantles every myth and money-making sorcery in the health industry, making sure at the same time to share with the audience knowledge that is scientifically proven and tested by himself.

What's more to appreciate, is the way he embraces his flaws and failures (not suprising, considering he coached Gary Vaynerchuk), and then the practical and empathetic advice he gives from all of these experiences.

Jerry Ward (bios3training)
Jerry Ward (bios3training) | Source

Bios3training

An extremely honest, authentic and straightforward person, Jerry Ward has gained a lot of criticism for his controversial and raw content, besides the grateful and respectful feedback he gets from his clients and the people watching his Youtube channel. Another reason why Jerry's getting so criticized it's because he doesn't have a Ph.D. and it's more of a "bro-science" guy.

Jerry is a personal trainer, competitive bodybuilder, former wrestler and the founder of GIFD Labs. Starting his fitness journey in 1994, you can see why he is so authoritative and confident in his knowledge and abilities when going into disputes with people like Layne Norton or Jason Blaha.

Nonetheless, I enjoy every video he puts out there, the passion he has when talking and the topics he chooses to talk about.

Ben Carpenter

Ben Carpenter

Ben Carpenter is a personal trainer, fitness model and the owner of one of those underrated Youtube channels related to nutrition, health, and fitness.

He has a lot in common with Layne Norton and Jordan Syatt, like the following...

His mission to inform people about any health and fitness trend or "magical trick" that is supposed to bring extremely fast results and without any effort or a minor effort, but in reality is just a scam so other people can make money OR it is simply misunderstood by most people...

He shares experiences from his life and how easy can people get tricked by fitness models on social media when choosing the best photo out of 100 before posting or the unpopular truth about the sacrifices they need to make for a photoshoot...

He focuses a lot on weight loss, how to don't feel like dying when dieting and how to sustain the result on long-term by explaining the mechanisms of the body when losing weight and the mistakes/misunderstandings propelled in the health industry, in a brief but comprehensive manner.

Cody "Boom-Boom" McBroom
Cody "Boom-Boom" McBroom | Source

Cody Boom Boom McBroom

No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” -Socrates

This is the quote that impacted Cody "Boom-Boom" McBroom a long time ago, making him feel that Socrates was talking to him, mainly because he grew up overweight and afraid of mirrors, pictures, and scales for quite some time.

Cody started training because he had enough of hating the way he looked and felt. As time passed by, his anxiety and stress decreased, his confidence increased and as a bonus, he started to attract girls.

If you are talking about trying it all, Cody absolutely needs to be included in that because he is the one that actually studied and tried every fitness and health trend out there.

"See when it comes to training and nutrition, I’ve tried it all. Literally. I’ve done a bodybuilding show, trained CrossFit seriously, used training for sport specific purposes, done countless photoshoot preps, used intermittent fasting for at least a full year before it was trendy, needed a paleo elimination diet to help with some autoimmune issues I faced, clean bulked and dirty bulked, rapid weight cuts and slow and steady cuts, high carb and low carb…"

With this enormous knowledge and experience, Cody decided to create Boom-Boom Performance, a Lifestyle Training and Nutrition Coaching Company, alongside his Youtube channel where he educates people about everything there is to know in the health and fitness industry, especially nutrition and weight loss.

Conclusion

We've just gone through five nutrition and fitness channels that I feel should get much more attention, after watching and putting in practice their advice countless times and at the same time considering the incredible valuable content they share for free, just with the purpose of helping people to become more healthy and increase their quality of life.

I would like to remind you again that those people make recommendations based on their on experience and at the same time, by helping hundreds if not thousands of people reach their goals, be it weight loss, muscle gain, performance or even mental health, all of this with the following intentions:

  • making the journey easier
  • making sure people enjoy life while doing it
  • making sure people are able to sustain the results long-term

I'm going to end this with one recommendation for you...

If you're not going to take action, be consistent and persevere with any advice they suggest, then don't even bother to watch them.

Wish you all the best!
