There are times when you feel stressed and tensed in your work place. You feel edgy at home thinking of the problems you face in your work. When you think of the volatile temperament of your boss it makes you nervous. Often you take your work related tension home and make your family life all heated up.

When do you feel work related stress?

  • When you are unable to cope up with your work.
  • When you have inferiority complex
  • When you compare yourself with your colleagues
  • When you do not improvise your know how about your work
  • When you try to keep pace with your more successful colleagues.

The world has turned highly competitive and you have to be always on your toes. It is a rat race all the way and stress and tension stays with you to make your life at work torturous and traumatic.

What are the ways to relieve work related stress?

If there is one person who can help you, it is you and only you. It is you who have to make yourself competent to give a tough fight to your colleagues.

1. You should have reasonable expectations.

Do not set too high a target for yourself and feel overwhelmed when you are unable to achieve it. You should know your limitations and also your strong points. Make your strong points your forte to win over your limitations. If your target is too high you feel you are incompetent if you are unable to achieve it. Be kind to yourself and pat yourself even if you attain tiniest of achievement. This gives you the energy to work even better.

2. Do not race against time

Always go step by step and do not cramp your work into one pack of compressed work schedule. If you maintain hectic speed in your work you lose your peace of mind as you feel you are doing less. When you finish your work step by step, you are more relaxed and productive and so less stressed.

3. Punctuality wins the race!

When you are punctual for your work, you have more productive time in hand and you are also able to escape the heated looks from your officials. When you get up early in the morning you have extra time in your hands and you can start for work without tension and strain. When you start from home in a relaxed mindset the day in your workplace is also relaxed and peaceful.

4. Be friendly

Do not lock horns with your colleagues as you will feel the heat in your work atmosphere. You should be friendly with them. Do not get involved in any office politics as it makes you get tangled into unwanted warring games within your colleagues.

5. Be updated

Do not be satisfied with your knowledge and think it is enough. You should improvise your know-how so that your work speaks for you and you are able to finish it with proficiency.

6. Make a list

Unless you make a list of things to be done in a paper you will forget about it. Write down your work schedule in a paper and always work at your pace. When you do your work in accordance with your speed you are more effective.

7.Spend quality time with your family

Do you know that your family can be a great stress reliever? When you enjoy your family life and have excellent compatibility with your spouse, you actually deactivate your stress in a telling way.

8. Fear not the bully

You should not be intimidated by the bully in your work place. He can make your life at your workplace terribly stressed if you bow your knees before him. You should firmly show him that he will not be tolerated by you and make sure he does not intrude in your work.

9.Sincerity counts

Be sincere to your work and also work with dedication. Be self disciplined and well groomed always. When you are sincere it shows in your work and you instantly get into the good books of the management. This inculcates a feeling of self confidence in you which is another top most stress reliever.

10. Healthy body means strong mind

Maintain good health, as a sharp mind needs a healthy body. Unless you take care of yourself you cannot find the energy to give the best to your work. If you are unhealthy you feel lethargic and sluggish which has a negative impact in your work.

You spend most of your time in your work place and if you cannot find peace there, you will be stressed. It is your mindset which dictates how you feel and so feed positive thoughts into it. When you like your work, you enjoy it and when you enjoy your work, there can be no fear and apprehension.

      I think for a lot of people, work is more stressful than ever! And with the latest technology like Blackberries and tablets etc. it can be really hard to switch off, especially when you have managers that think it'sok to call at all hours. This doesn't happen to me thankfully but I know it's a problem. These are 10 very useful and sensible options. Good hub
