In today's world, more and more people are getting depressed, experience depression and anxiety. Though there are biological reasons behind these sufferings, not all of them have biological reasons. In fact, more than half of the people suffering from depression and anxiety these days suffer mainly because of underlying negative beliefs.
Here, I will just focus on two negative beliefs found to be the underlying reason for causing depression and anxiety. First of all, we all have some basic beliefs. All our thoughts and feelings are directly related to our beliefs. We think in a certain manner because we have a belief underlying it. All our beliefs are mostly acquired at some point in time and they mostly lie hidden in the subconscious mind.
So, the first powerful negative belief is "I have to influence others by my physical appearance, my knowledge, etc. to be happy in life." How can this belief be the reason for causing depression? The problem with this belief system is it makes a person constantly crave for people's attention, for people's appreciation, people's acknowledgement to experience self-worth and even if they are able to influence others they may not be able to maintain their influence over others as everything is bound to change and as a result may get upset and may also feel depressed.
The second powerful negative belief is "I can be happy in life only if I get influenced on something or the other." People with this belief will not be able to stay peaceful and contented as they constantly allow themselves to get influenced by something or the other and as a result get exhausted and start to feel depressed.
The above two negative beliefs are very subtle and will not be easily visible to our conscious mind. We have to scan our conscious as well as our subconscious minds completely and remove these kinds of negative beliefs because if these negative beliefs are allowed to stay, they may start to influence our thoughts and our feelings and make our life miserable. This is cleansing the mind from self-harming negative beliefs.
Most of the anxiety and depression is triggered by negative beliefs hidden in the subconscious. Silent contemplation can give us a clear picture of underlying negative beliefs. Meditation is a powerful method to destroy the negative beliefs to live a life of complete freedom and joy.
