Use comfrey cream for tennis elbow, arthritis, and eczema

Updated on July 16, 2013

My experiences with comfrey cream as a home remedy

I'm one of those people who really wants antibiotics for my kids when they're ill, even though I know it's not a good idea to use antibiotics too often.

I never used to think of myself as much as a "home remedy person," until I was afraid of a third painful cortisone injection for a tennis elbow problem. Two cortisone injections into my painful elbow joint were more than enough for me!

My mother and her friends had been using my mother's homemade comfrey cream for a while, and she was often asking me to try it out. I wasn't interested - until I wanted to try to avoid a third cortisone injection! She doesn't sell her homemade comfrey cream, or anything, although I think she should!

Comfrey cream amazes me

I was amazed, to put it lightly. Just a little of the smelly comfrey ointment - about a teaspoon of it - rubbed into the painful area three times a day, for a full five minutes each time, did the trick! Three days later I no longer had to use the comfrey cream, and my tennis elbow never returned. This was about 5 years ago.

Comfrey cream has since helped heal a twisted ankle in just three days, when I would have otherwise hopped around for just the other leg for much longer, and also helped relieve this unexplained pain I was having in my hip for two or three days. The hip pain was preventing me from sleeping properly, until I used some comfrey cream.

My father suffers from arthritis, and also has another bone disease called Pagets. My mother's comfrey cream helps relieve the pain that arthritis and Pagets cause him.

Comfrey cream and eczema

Something that happened with my mother's friend, is what has impressed me the most about how amazing comfrey cream can be. She had eczema. The word to remember here is HAD.

My mother's comfrey cream recipe is based on an old recipe she found some years back in an even older magazine. She included some other ingredients, and made up her own comfrey cream recipe, that our family and friends use as an effective home remedy for many ailments, and we are grateful for it.

Using comfrey cream has often helped my family and friends, but I cannot say that it will help you too.  Please consult with your doctor if you are concerned about your health or the health of a loved one.
