Uterine Balloon Therapy - Hope For Women With Excessive Bleeding - My Personal Journey 6 (Three Months In)

Updated on December 31, 2009

Dec. 31st, 2009

I am relieved to say, that thanks to the Uterine Balloon Therapy (also known as Nova-Sure or Endometrial Ablation) procedure, the new year will be free of menstrual cycles that are characterized by extreme pain and excessive bleeding.

* In The Beginning....

For any of the loyal readers that have followed my story from the very beginning, from the very start of my menstrual cycle, I've always been crippled by extreme pain and heavy bleeding.

Several months ago, things only got worse. I went from dealing with one stressful menstrual cycle, to two! The cycle of excessive bleeding, extreme mood swings, and unbearable pain had gone on long enough. It was time for a change.

* Relief In Sight.

After discussing my symptoms and complications with my gynecologist, a battery of test were performed. Once it had been established that there was nothing internal causing my problems, with much discussion with my doctor, my husband and my mother, I made the informed decision to go ahead with the procedure.

I was the perfect candidate for this ninety second, in-office procedure. At last, relief was finally in sight.

* Three Months In And Feeling Great!

Three months have passed since my Nova-Sure procedure, and I must say that I'm ecstatic about the results.

In addition to a drastic reduction in my menstrual flow (at least an 80% reduction!), my premenstrual mood swings are practically non-existent, and the only pain I experience is a slight headache.

For the very first time, I've been able to say that having a menstrual cycle is not that bad after all.

Thank You From The Bottom Of My Heart.
Thank You From The Bottom Of My Heart.

* SomeThings Never Change.

Unfortunately, the length of my menstrual cycle hasn't changed. I still flow between five to seven days, but without the other inconveniences or aggravations previously attached to that "dreaded time of the month."

No matter, the significant changes are just fine by me.

* Others Have Witnessed A Change As Well.

The transformation has been so visible, that those in my close circle of friends have noticed the difference.

At one time, anyone who knew me personally could tell when it was "that time of the month." Now, my cycle comes and goes without their knowledge.

The transformation is truly amazing and life changing.

* For Women Experiencing Excessive Menstrual Bleeding - There Is Hope!

For the women readers out there who experience excessive menstrual bleeding, in addition to extreme menstrual pain, there is hope.

True, this procedure may not bring you the success it has brought me, but it is an avenue you and your gynecologist can look into together. From my personal experience, this procedure has given me my life back and is worthy looking into.

I no longer have to stay home during my menstrual cycle for fear of ruining my clothes, or due to the fact that I'm doubled over in constant agony. I no longer snap at my family or experience extreme mood-swings that make me feel as if I'm losing my very sanity.

After twenty years of just "dealing" with the symptoms and aggravations of my menstrual cycle, I feel that due to the Uterine Balloon Therapy procedure, I can proudly say that I don't just feel like a new woman, I am a new woman.

* In Dedication.

Before I close, I would like to dedicate this article to my supportive husband and my supportive mother, who both accompanied me to my procedure. In addition, much accolades should be bestowed upon my kind and talented gynecologist Dr. Ilan D. Bornstein, M.D., FACOG; who performed this procedure on me and his wonderful staff for prepping me and helping me through the process. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
