There are many types of Vegetarians

According to Mayo Clinic, there are different types of vegetarian diet. These include the Lacto-vegetarian diets which exclude meat, fish, poultry and eggs, as well as foods that contain them but include dairy products such as milk, cheese, yogurt and butter. The Lacto-ovo vegetarian diets which exclude meat, fish and poultry, but allow dairy products and eggs. The Ovo-vegetarian diets which exclude meat, poultry, seafood and dairy products, but allow eggs. The Vegan diets which exclude meat, poultry, fish, eggs and dairy products — and foods that contain these products.

You must commit

The key to starting and following through on a decision to become a vegetarian is commitment. The very first thing you should ask yourself is whether or not you are willing to commit to this lifestyle. Yes lifestyle; we should always remember that being a vegetarian is a lifestyle choice.

If you are committed then you will need to plan your eating habits to include nutritious vegetarian meals. Many people are at times concerned that if they are to become vegetarians, their diets will lack some form of nutrient that can only be found in meat. Do not be worried. When you begin to learn about healthy dieting you will realize that many of the nutrients found in meat, fish and dairy are readily available in more natural forms.

Don't forget to get help

Take for instance omega-3 fatty acid which is found in fish and necessary to human survival. This nutrient can be found in canola oil, soy oil and even walnut; though this is not enough to sustain human beings there are supplements that can be taken to replenish the omega-3 fatty acid without having to eat fish.

There is help

It's not that hard

Time for action

Now that you have done your research and found out the many ways you can replenish the necessary nutrients in your diet, it is time to put it into practice. For many people the transition takes time and many start with one meal at a time. Whatever way you decide to go, you will need to become accustomed to your vegetarian diet. The more you eat the better it will be for you. This is not to say that you will have to subject yourself to eating raw leaves all the time. A simple snack of fruits and peanuts with a glass of water is just as healthy.
