Types of Natural Remedy for Hemorrhoids

There are several natural remedies people have used over the years in the treatment of hemorrhoids. You may find one of more of these treatments to be enough depending on how severe your hemorrhoids are. Some of the treatments are herbal or types of food or water therapy and some methods are used to get relief from the symptoms in addition to using a natural remedy.

Water Therapy

  • Applying ice on the affected areas to reduce pain and swelling
  • Using a Sitz bath is for soaking of the affected area in water only deep enough to cover the hip and buttocks area. This process usually lasts about 15- 20 minutes and can be done about 3-4 times a day. Some include medicine or a saline solution in the bath which not only aids in reducing the swelling but also relieves some of the pain associated with hemorrhoids.

Reflexology Therapy

  • Use a doughnut shaped cushion designed especially for hemorrhoid sufferers. They are inexpensive and can usually be found in pharmacies or medical supply stores.
  • Learning how to control or have healthier bowel movements will help tremendously. This basically means to avoid straining during a bowel movement, don't hold your breath and don't continue to sit on the toilet for long periods of time.

Food Therapy

  • Drink plenty of water so your body stays hydrated and it will help with constipation.
  • Also making sure you eat fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables and other high fiber food items

Herbal Therapy

  • Aromatherapy is also considered an herbal therapy and can be used as a natural treatment for hemorrhoids. By adding a few drops of lavender and juniper essential oils to a warm, soaking bath you will begin to feel relief from the pain and swelling of your hemorrhoids. Also using one drop of lavender and geranium essential oils blended with one ounce of carrier oil works as an ointment applied to the affected area.
  • Herb extracts that have also been clinically proven to be successful treatments of hemorrhoids are Japanese Pagoda Tree, Horse chestnut and Butcher's broom.

3. Curing hemorrhoids by any form does not carry a 100% guarantee, not even surgery.

It is so good to see you back, hope all is well with you. I have not really been away, just trying to wait out the Google roller-coaster.

Yes this is a tough topic but one that has to be addressed. If one doesn't seek treatment, it could become more serious.

As always you brighten my day!

Yes Will, that sounds about right! I guess another treatment should be not to have reading material in the bathroom.

I know of one person who developed hemorroids because he liked to read on the toilet and spent too much time doing it! When he stopped reading on the toilet, his hemorroids disappeared.
