Vitamin H Biotin. Make your hair grow faster with less efforts
How I'm making my hair grow longer steadyly and cost effectively
I hail from the part of the world where our hair is very rough and rarely grows long and when it grows, most of it falls off while combing because you really have to comb hard enough for the hair to become straight.
I always desired long hair which i can have the freedom to put different styles. I didn’t know what i could do. I kept asking my friends who had long hair what they did to make theirs grow longer and most of them said they used chemicals. One of my friend who had really long soft hair was a half-cast (her mother was European and her father from my village) - so naturally her hair would grow very fast like her mothers. After high school, i decided to put chemical on my hair since in the high school i went to, we were not allowed to put chemicals on our hair and now i had the freedom to do whatever i wanted to my hair. I went to a salon in town and explained this was the first time I’m putting chemical so they be careful as I’ve heard some people say they burnt their scalp especially during the first time. The salonist was very kind and explained what she will do and the results, so i got confident and gave her the go ahead.
How i maintain my hair with chemical
Treat - plait (when some growth starts) - re-touch
My hair with chemical
After i put the chemical, my hair became soft and a little bit longer – maybe because it straightened? I was very happy as i left saloon that day. After 2 weeks, i had to go back to the salon for treatment of my hair. This time i asked my salonist to style it differently and after treating, rinsing and staying in the dryer for around 30minutes, i had the look i wanted. Another 2 weeks passed and i realized i had to keep going back to the salon to have my hair treated, otherwise i buy a treatment and treat it at home then go to the salon for styling. The salonist explained this would now be the cycle if i wanted to maintain the chemical and to avoid the hair becoming too soft and fall off. That was not very encouraging as none of my friends told me i had to keep going back to the salon for maintenance. Since i was already on it, i decided to adjust and accept my new routine but i was now spending more money maintaining my hair than i used to.
After 14 weeks i started having ‘growth’ after which i was advised to plait the hair otherwise it will become too soft on the top and too hard from the bottom where the growth was. I decided to braid and after 4 weeks, i removed the braids and went back to the saloon. This time i was told my hair had much growth that i needed to re-touch (add chemical afresh to it so that the grown hair can be same texture as the rest of the hair). After the re-touch, i realized my hair had not grown much as i expected and i started getting disappointed it’s not growing as i would like and I’m now spending too much money maintaining it. Well, i ended up having to plait more and do some maintenance from home to try to reduce the salon visits and the extra coin spent there.
I kept the 'chemicaled' hair despite the new routine because i could be able to have different styles and my hair was smoother, but I still needed my hair to grow longer.
Vitamin H - Biotin, my secret to longer hair
This year i decided to Google what others are doing to make their hairs grow but cost effectively and effortlessly. That’s when i came across people talking about VITAMIN ‘H’ – BIOTIN. Biotin is a water soluble B-vitamin which helps promote healthy skin, hair and nails. After reading much of the reviews, i was convinced and decided to try it out since my nails were brittle and my hair was breaking too much. The right side of my hairline had no hair at all and neither was it growing for so many years.
Sure enough, after 4 weeks my hair had grown a bit. It’s now 7 months since i started using Biotin dietary supplement and my hair is growing month after month. In between I plait it as plaiting also helps in hair growth and naturally strengthens 'our' kind of hair. Also most notable is the right side of my forehead on my hair line I had a ‘patch’ there the hair never used to grow, now it’s growing. Am very happy with this product and will continue using it till the length reaches the middle of my back. Now it’s slightly below the shoulder length :). The only downside i see is if i stop using the supplements the hair stops growing. I buy 100 capsules and use for 100 days.
I use Biotin 5000mcg super potency manufactured by Solgar inc in the USA. I take 1 vegetable capsule a day after dinner. The difference in hair growth is noticeable but also requires patience. As for my nails, before they used to be very brittle and rarely grew long, now i need to trim them every week as they easily grow and are strong 'hard'. My face has also become smoother. I find it very cost effective and time saving, it saves me the many hours i used to spend at the salon or at home treating my hair and it’s of course cost effective.
Biotin is also packaged in 600 mcg tablets, 1000 mcg vegetable capsules and Biotin 10,000 mcg vegetable capsules. It is good to seek advice from a health care practitioner before you decide which one to take especially if you are pregnant, nursing or taking any other medicine. For me i talked to a practitioner at a pharmacy just to be sure it’s the right product.
Biotin and weight loss?
Biotin also supports energy production in the body and is required for protein, carbohydrates and fat metabolism.
I read for some people it has helped them cut some weight, for me it has been perfect with the hair, nails and skin, maybe one year down the line I’ll check my weight and see.
