Ways to Love Yourself
Valentine’s Day can make those who don’t have significant others and those who are in unfulfilled relationships feel blue. Instead of putting so much pressure into one day to prove that you have love in your life or waiting for someone else to make a grand gesture on a specific day, why not love yourself every day and always. When you decide to love yourself, you never have to depend on others to make you feel love or allow them to dictate how you will feel about yourself.
All You Need is Love
Ways to Show YOU Some Love
Celebrate what you like about yourself: Make a list of things that you like about yourself or your best qualities (so you don’t ever forget) and use this list to take a moment to appreciate the good inside you. We all spend far too many hours criticizing ourselves and beating ourselves up about past mistakes or certain flaws. Spend some time celebrating what is good about you so that you feel good.
Wear Happy Clothes: Dress in clothes that make you feel good. Do you ~ whether it is bright clothes or sharp threads, wear the clothes that help you feel your best. Whatever makes you feel happy ~ glitter tops, high heels, your favorite t-shirt, a colorful tie ~ rock it and wear it.
Give Yourself a Gift: Rather than waiting on the perfect gift from someone else who may or may not get you what you want, reward yourself and give yourself a gift. If you did a great job at work, fulfilled a goal, or kept at a project that was difficult, why not celebrate yourself. There is no crime in getting yourself flowers to spruce up your place or treating yourself to an ice cream sundae.
Express Gratitude: Be thankful for what you do have in your life (especially instead of focusing on what you don’t have) and express your gratitude. Be kind and generous to your friends and family and thank them for being in your life. Appreciating what you do have will allow you to be open to experiencing new things and your confident appearance and happy attitude will naturally attract others to you.
Take Care of Yourself: Give yourself what you need. Eat right, exercise and take care of your own needs. Doing right by you is a way of showing yourself some love. Taking care of others is a great. However, the only way to be there for others is to take care of yourself in the process. Never neglect your own needs for others and pay attention to what you body and mind needs to stay healthy.
Live in the Present: Enjoy what is good about your life right now. Consciously make a commitment to live within the moment and be fully present in your life as it is right now. Too often, we are always focused on what happened in the past or what we want to happen in the future and fail to appreciate the moment. Living in the moment allows you to have a fuller life and realize that there are many small and daily moments in your life that can bring you happiness. Enjoy the conversation you are having right now with a friend or that cup of coffee on your way to work. It is hard to train yourself to live in the moment, but worth the effort. Constant distractions bring discomfort and unhappiness and prevent you from enjoying your life.
Hope this list helps you find ways to love and appreciate yourself.
