Weed

Weed is smoked in a variety of ways. Weed is such an ingrained aspect of the American hippy and redneck cultures that a stoner's pride is the size of his bong or other device. In many southern states the size of a joint is also a status symbol. In southern culture a small joint is called a pinner. I'd say that the most common way to smoke weed is either in a joint, a blunt, or a pipe. The most popular way would probably be through a water bong or a blunt. A blunt is a big joint rolled with cigar paper or recycled cigarillo's such as black and mild or swisher sweets.

Bongs, Makeshift Bongs, Vapos, and Hukas

So I've already mentioned the bong which is a water filtered and extremely popular stoner bedroom or bedside ornament. The bong is used by touching the fire to the weed/ spice and sucking smoke up through the water. This cools the smoke so by the time it hits your lungs it is nice and soothing. Also, according to Pineapple Express the bong filters out all the "addictive shit" (so not true).

The kool thing about the bong is that, despite how awesome a bong is, it is also easy to make. The makeshift bong can be made out of everyday household items. An old water bottle, some tape, aluminum foil, a toilet-paper cardboard inner ring, these are all things that might be used to make a bong.

The Vaporizer is a machine that uses steam to vaporize the Marijuana usually in a plastic bag. These things are kinda awkward and aren't as popular. That is partially due to cost because your average Marijuana Vape cost's about $200.

The Huka, also spelled Hukah, is most often used with a compressed Marijuana called hash. The Huka is a continually burning device that has several mouthpieces coming off so it can be used by multiple people at the same time. This is usually seen at parties and in the apartments of your more dedicated pot head.

One hitters and Chillums

A Chillums is a sort of cross between a a glass bowl (pipe) and a blunt. People love chillums because they are small durable and discreet.

The one hitter is a modernized and efficientized version of the chillum. The one hitter only holds one hit and thus the name. The original chillum was like that as well but in the last 50 years or so people have revolutionized the chillum to be just another ugly ass pipe.

Pipes

This is my favorite subject when it comes to weed. Bowls, pipes or whatever you wanna call them come in many shapes and sizes. Just like the southerner take pride in the size of his/ her bong/ joint, the recreational user has a close relationship with the pipe. Usually a pipe will last you forever if you take your time cleaning it. Nonetheless a stoner will on average buy a new pipe every month or every other month.

When a stoner gets a new pipe it will be shiny an transparent and as the smoke tar starts to build up in the pipe colorful pigmentations in the glass start to show, contrasted with the black, and patterns will start to grow. Until the pattern is complete the stoner will carry it in a pocket or, usually, a special shatterproof case.

Obviously you haven't been to ALaska or Florida. Weed is popular with Rednecks... so are duck tape and water-bottle bongs.

Sweet article. Kinda like Stoner 101. The only thing that made me wonder was your reference to weed being popular with rednecks. That's not been my experience. Haha the ones I know usually just smoke Marlboros and drink too much beer. I feel like stoners are kind of their own separate group.
