January 29- February 4

As some of you may have read last week, this week's diet was supposed to be The Perfect Health Diet. However, the Flu virus had other plans for me. I picked up the lovely virus Influenza B on Monday and I have been sick ever since.

Sorry I haven't updated this week. It's just so hard when you are feeling as miserable as I have been feeling this week to get up the energy to do anything productive. So I have not done ANYTHING productive this week; just ask my husband. I did however do a lot of whining and moaning about how sick I was. I did a LOT of coughing and some other unfortunate and unpleasant things that I won't bother you with here.

When it comes to being sick. I'm a baby. I had the opportunity to evaluate the idea that my body is a calorie burning engine when it's sick because I spent several days with a fever over 101 and as high as 103. So I will count that as exercise. I also did so much coughing that the muscles over my rib cage were actually sore. Like just did 500 sit-ups sore. So there was another exercise.

I have eaten very little, but what I did eat was not always so healthy. I ate half a roll of crackers on Monday. On Tuesday I ate 1.5 grilled cheese sandwiches (mistake) and half a bowl of tomato soup. On Wednesday I don't recall eating anything at all. I do recall feeling very hungry. I think I did search for things to eat in the house that didn't make me queasy, but I can't remember actually eating anything. I drank almost 100 oz of Gatorade. ON Friday my kids were out of school and my 12 year old ran to the gas station a block away from our house. I drank another 64 ounces of Gatorade, ate one nasty tasting piece of convenience store pizza and 5 of those little powdered doughnuts. She also bought me some of those little Ritz Bitz cheese crackers, but my 6 year old ate all of those, and my stomach thanked her for doing it when the nasty pizza was making it's reappearance.

Today, Saturday, I had to coach a volleyball tournament at 9am. I felt almost 85% back to normal and my team took first in their tournament! I think they might have felt sorry for me. Maybe I should have the flu more often!

Anyway, for lunch I had Ham sandwich and about 4 Doritos that I had packed for lunch. Afterwords (about 5 PM) my team went out for ice cream and I had a vanilla malt and three of my daughter's french fries. At 9 I had 2 pieces of frozen pizza my husband made for supper.

Sooo... that's my week so far. I know I still have 2 more days to go. And I HOPE that they will be healthier than the last week. When you are sick you just have to eat what's available to you and what doesn't make you sick thinking about it.

On Sunday I have a two hour volleyball practice, and then it's the Super Bowl, so I don't know how great things will go then either. Haha! But I promise, I'll be right back to the diet next week. At any rate, I'm still calling this week a diet week and I'm dubbing it "The Flu Diet" because between the very few calories I consumed, and all the calories I should have burned with my fever and coughing, I SHOULD lose weight. But, I guess we will see when I weigh in at the end of the week.

Start and End Weight

Week 5 - Start Weight: 188

Week 5 - End Weight: 187

2/8/13

I'm still going! I will get this current weeks diet up as soon as I am able. I have an incredibly busy couple of weeks ahead of me, so please bear with me. I will update as soon as I am able. I did lose weight with the flu. Just one lb, I thought it would maybe be more.

So much to report, and so little time. Being down with the flu for an entire week (yep it wound up being from Monday-Sunday for me) has really put me behind. Sometimes I feel like I can't keep up! Thanks for sticking with me!
