Tonsillitis is an inflammation to the tonsils that are cause by either a virus or a bacteria. The symptoms are sore throat and trouble swallowing, stiff neck and pain when moving the eyes, red swollen tonsils that are often covered with white goo. In this article, you are going to find out if there is any herbs that you can use to get rid of tonsillitis faster.

Tonsillitis should not be confused with tonsil stones, which is a similar condition, but requires different treatment.

What Herbs Are Effective?

What herbs are effective against an infection such as tonsillitis? The answer is that it depends on what kind of infection it is. Is it viral or bacterial. Bacterial infections respond more positive on herbal remedies while virus infections don't. But there are herbs that boosten the bodys own capacity to remove a virus and therefore can be effective against viruses as well.

Goldenseal

The first herb I want to include is called Goldenseal. Now, goldenseal is nature's antibiotic and it is a very powerful herb. It is also called orange root and it is the root that is used for infections. It is anticatarrhal, which means that it is effective against inflammations to the mucus membranes such as your throat. It is anti-inflammatory, which means that it will lower inflammation anywhere in the body. It is antimicrobial, which means that it kills the growth of any microorganisms.

But Goldenseal also include substances than increase blood flow to the pelvic area and can also induce labors. That is why pregnant women should not use goldenseal.

Ugh! You should not mess with herbs when you have tonsillitis and especially if your tonsils look like the ones in the picture. That is an infection that needs antibiotics! Once it's cleared up, have those nasty old things yanked out! You will never regret it! I speak from experience. I struggled with problem tonsils until I was in my early 20s. When I finally had them taken out, my health improved 100%.
