What Is More Important Good Health Or Lots Of Money

Updated on January 11, 2014

Living A Healthy Life

We all know that it takes money to keep up with our health regarding Doctors visits and annual checkups, but if you were to make a choice, "what is more important good health or lots of money?"

I often think to myself, "man I would love to be rich and not have any financial worries," but then I think and say to myself, "I'd rather have great health than lots of money."

Having A Happy And Healthy Life

Way back in October of 2009 I finally surrendered to the demons that had run my life for so many years, and the were called my alcohol demons.

Alcohol was a huge part of my life and I never gave it a thought of how bad it was for my health and the health and well being of the people that loved and cared so much for me.

When I was drinking the alcohol make me think in ways that were not normal and unrealistic. I always thought I would love to have so much money that I wouldn't have to work anymore, but I sure everyone has that same feeling right?

I didn't care about my health and what I was starting to look like by gaining tons of weight and just looking wore out and tired from all the alcohol I would consume each and everyday of my life.

What Is More Important To You

Would you rather have tons of money or great health? Both is not an option.

Having Good Health And Money

Having good health and money would be the best thing, but in this hub I am asking if you had a choice which would you choose between both?

I never realize how important health was until I started to feel the effects of my many years of drinking and abusing alcohol.

When you start to get tired and looking like you are older than you really are it make you think, "what in the heck am I doing to my life and others lives as well?"

I can't stress enough how drinking and abusing alcohol will in the end catch up with you one way or another. It might make you sick and not be able to function like you used to or your family will just fall to pieces because of you addiction and how you act and treat the ones that love and care for you.

My Last Dance With My Demons

This is the last day I drank alcohol, (October 27, 2009) My last dance with alcohol!

You Must Take Care Of Yourself First

  • Your life and your health is first and foremost.
  • Money will come after.
  • You need to love yourself enough to care about what you are doing to yourself.
  • Don't abuse your body or abuse alcohol.
  • Without your health, money means nothing at all.
  • Granted it takes money to care for your health.
  • Doing simply things such as not drinking and abusing alcohol will help with good health.

Have You Answered The Question Yet?

Have you answered the question yet simply means, what is more important to you, Health or Money?

My answer to this question for me is that I much rather good health and be broke than tons of money and be ill. After all, you could be the richest person in the world, but if you don't have your health, money means absolutely nothing!

Having your health and being happy in life is the main thing here. Money is second to this and I realize without money we can't survive, but it can not be the top on your priority list.

Good Health
Don't Abuse Your Body
Live a Clean Life
Exercise Your Body Everyday
Don't Abuse Alcohol
Don't Abuse Your Body
Exercise Your Mind
Drink In Moderation

The Moral Of This Hub

The moral and meaning of this hub is to tell everyone that money isn't everything. Granted it takes money to take care of yourself as far as checkups and all the routine exams that ladies and men need to stay in good health.

These yearly exams could mean life or death for many ladies and men, and yes it does take money to get these checkup and yearly exams, but never put money before your own health and well being.

Just think about what life would be like if you were filthy rich, but had poor health. You know, money can't buy everything in life.

You can read more about drinking and abusing alcohol in my blog called The Clean Life.

Health is much more important than having money. I feel good about myself as I age because I am able to get around and enjoy life tremendously, due to good health practice. Your story is a winner's wreath and so glad that you share your experience so that others can have hope.

This is a great hub, heartfelt and full of very useful info. I too once had an alcohol addiction. Nothing feels better than waking up knowing who I am and where I'm going in life. I'd pick good health every.single.time! Thanks for sharing.

Having had money at one time, and health, losing money is nothing compared to losing ones health. Lose money and life still has so many things that enrich life (after all the majority of the world don't have much money). Lose your health, however, and it takes away from the the richness of everything. I pity the unwell more than I pity the low income earners. That said, below a certain level, a lack of money leads to poor health. Pity these souls most.

For me, good health and happiness is more important to me than having tons of money. I agree with your views on taking care of yourself first. I wouldn't mind owning that yacht though. Did you just write this hub? I thought I had already read this one. your grandson is too cute:)

Mark.....I LOVE the picture of you and the precious teenie baby! Also the peaceful shoreline....beautiful.

I should think this question would be one of those NO-brainers.....but we never know the thoughts and opinions of others, do we?

As tempting as it is to lean toward that "evil" thing we know as MONEY.....I don't see the benefit at all without one's health. It's not really exciting to imagine buying expensive hub caps for our wheelchair......I wouldn't think!

Superb hub, Mark......cover that baby with hugs and kisses! UP+++
