Feeling powerless is a terrible feeling. Empowerment is what we need to seek to gain happiness, and a fulfilling, gratifying and satisfying life. Empowerment comes from a strength and resiliency that is built from the things we do and the things we believe about ourselves.
Being empowered gives us personal control over our lives and our choices. A sense of empowerment is associated with greater feeling of well being and better health. To be empowered comes from a sense of competency, and the ideas that the things we do have meaning. Empowerment gives us a sense of positivity. It puts us on the road towards happiness.

You Have the Ability
Taking responsibility for ourselves is empowering. It takes energy to make things happen. This energy gets recycled back to us in the form of feeling good about what we have done. We gain a sense of personal growth from our experiences. With the realization that there is a cause and effect to our thoughts and actions we can acknowldege that we have the power to affect change.
We have the ability to create an outcome (most of the time) that can make us happy or not.
In reality things happen that we cannot control. Empowerment is not a matter of controlling our lives. Empowerment is many things. One of things about empowerment, is the ablity to get through the struggles and choices we encounter. We do have choices and attitudes and thoughts that can help us believe and help us take action towards a result that we desire. It is our response to what happens that has the most impact on our self satisfaction and fulfillment.
Self Defeating Thoughts vs Positive Thinking
Viktor Frankl, the famous psychoanalyst said “when we can’t change the outcome, we are challenged to change ourselves,”. Some things may empower us, some things may overwhelm us. While we can’t control all the things that happen in our lives. We can influence our own actions which most definitely have an impact on the other events that we encounter. It is our action that matters. Our actions are a result of our thoughts. We take action because of the choices we choose to make.
These choices come about because we chose to think of things a certain way, because of an attitude we chose to adopt, because of the opportunites we were open enough to let into our lives . We get these thoughts and ideas from our beliefs. Our beliefs come from our internal messages that we were taught or we acquired from our experiences. What we believe is very important. Self defeating thoughts create a negative outcome.
Positive thinking creates a feeling of self determination. Self determination will help guide us to where we want to be, no matter what we are facing. Creating the best possible scenario in the face of difficulties gives us empowerment. Owning our decisions is empowerment.
You Don't Have to be Perfect
Mental health counseling can help someone focus on what they need to do. Through therapy, a person can learn to utilize their inner strength and turn things around for themselves. Self help books are great sources of inspiration to get encouragement.
An empowered person does not know all the answers, does not have to do things perfectly, and may even have their odds stacked against them. An empowered person will manage to make the situation what they need it to be. People who are empowered are healthier mentally and physically.
Around the Globe Studies Prove Attitude Affects How We Feel
This study looked at people who were octogenerians. There were 267 participants, all were 84 years and older from Jonkiping Sweden. The study wanted to see if, the belief that our actions influence the outcomes were related to feeling younger than our years.
The majority of people (64%) said they did not feel old. This study was duplicated in other countries including the U.S., Germany, and Finland. The inferences made from these studies is that people have the capacity to feel different about themselves. People may be able to minimize some of the affects of aging by the way they think and feel.
Empowerment Gives You Greater Self Satisfaction
Being optimistic plays a major part in how we think, feel and do. Optimists believe they have some responsibility for their own success. Optimists have the ability to perserve against adversities and because of this attitude, tend to have longer lives.
If we change our thinking about what we believe our future will be our attitude will be more optimistic.
Some people believe the cause of an event can be attributed to themselves. An optimist believes the good things that happen are because of things they have done. A pessimist believes they have little to do with the good things that happen.
If you believe you have a part in the things that occur you can become empowered by the things you do to make things happen.
Feeling empowered can make you feel younger and it can heal you. There are times we struggle and need strength to go on. When we need to press forward, it is important to realize you can summon a force within you to make a change and to seek greater satisfaction.

Happiness is sometimes elusive, and dependent on internal and external stimuli. But empowerment exists in the proof of our actions, the results we achieve and the belief that we are not powerless, ever. Empowerment exists in our minds and in the essence of our spirit.
One empowered person can help another. It doesn't matter where we are in our lives. We all need to feel empowered to take on new challenges and create a better world for ourselves.
