Every now and then we hear people saying I am on a high-protein low-carb diet and some say I am on low-fat high-fiber diet. They just follow their doctor’s diet or their fitness trainer’s diet plan without having a look on what is the science behind these types of diets. According to me, everything in this world has a meaning and we as intelligent human beings must have complete knowledge about the things we are engaging in. These are naturally present in various foods and they don’t affect your body weight in anyway.

Most GI doctors give advice to patients with irritable bowel syndrome and other gastric disorders to start a low-fat high-fiber diet. Do you know why they do that? Just because fiber is found in various types of plant foods, actually it is the skeleton of a plant which holds it straight throughout its lifetime and plant fiber is very good for our intestine as it collects all the fat contents and toxins from there and excretes out via the bowels. Fiber is non digestible and this is the major reason why gastrointestinal doctors always put emphasis on starting a high fiber diet, as it is helpful in treatment of constipation, polyps, gastritis, esophagitis, etc. Cucumbers, apricots, and eggplants are very good sources of dietary fiber.
Now whenever you go to a dietician or nutritionist for a weight loss diet, he/she will prescribe you a low-carb, low-fat, high-fiber diet. When you start a bodybuilding or fitness program, your gym trainer will write you a high protein, low carb diet. When you will consult a doctor for weight gain, he/she will give you a script for high-caloriehigh proteindiet.
