What is a GMO?
What is a GMO?

My article, is to let others be aware of What a GMO food is and why we should be concerned about this, for ourselves, our families and our future generations. I want to address

  • What is a GMO?
  • Am I eating GMO Foods?
  • What harm does it do in our bodies?
  • Is the general public aware that we are infact eating this?
  • Links to research further on this subject

I hope my article can help you get these answers and further your research and also help you make very important life style changes and start working together to do something about it. :)

What is a GMO Food?

What is a GMO Food?

  • GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism.
  • GEO (Genetically Engineered Organism)
  • GM or GE are also used.

Genetic engineering is a new technology that forces genetic information across the protective species barrier in an unnatural way. For example, crossing an Orange and a frog through genetic manipulation.

Why to be concerned? That these cross genetics are not labeled and are entering our food supplys.

  • They are not labeling our foods
  • not educating the public on GMO foods
  • Not listing the possible risks of eating GMO foods
  • Allowing cross pollination to continue the manipulation of genetically modified foods without knowing the environmental risks involved.

Wouldn't you like to know what it is your eating and what risks are involved? Wouldn't you want to know if your child or significant other is eating this product?

Excellent Video on Transgenic Foods

This video is exceptional in explaining Transgenic Foods, it is an excellent video to share among family members and friends, giving a detailed explanation of how these GMO foods are entering our food supply today.

The Health Dangers of Genetically Modified Foods

This is an excellent and informative video on the health dangers of GMO foods. You will want to watch this and share this among your family members and friends.

GM Foods

GM Foods (genetically modiefied), GMO's (genetically modified organims) or GE (genetically engineered) is used to refer to produce for consumption that have been using the latest molecular biology techniques. These Plants have enhanced traits to resist insects. So depending on the enviroment, determining which insect is most harmful to their crops or if the crops are constantly in drought. They can use genetic engineering for modification of isolated genes in these plants and not just from other plants, but from NON-plant sources as well.

This enables plants to produce their own pesticides.

Example:

Corn : has been genetically manipulated by B.T. or Bacillus thuringiensis, which is a naturallly occurring bacterium that produces crystal proteins that are lethal to insect lavae. The B.T Crystal protein genes have been transferred into corn, enabling the corn to produce its on pesticide against insects.

Environmental Hazards

  • Unintended Harm to other organisms
  • Gene transfer to non targeted species
  • Reduced effectiveness to other species.
  • Unknown human effects

Did you know that recently Monarch Butterflies were effected?

Also did you know that thousands of bee's have fallen dead?

Did you know?

Did you know that right now you are probably eating Genetically modified foods? Yes its in your grocery store, it is served at restaurants, at schools, in snack machines. Ever wondered what exactly does genetic minipulation to foods may cause in the body? What long term effects it may cause, like cancer, or immune system problems? It is a terrible thought!!!

Changes to make immediately:

Conclusion

It is heartening to say the least to see these engineers and scientists playing God to me. There is just no telling the harm and danger in the future that this may lead to currently. I wonder how many deaths per year are attributed to eating a GMO food. How many people are getting cancer from it? From all ages from infact to elder. It sickens me to even think that nobody truely knows the cause of cancers in America today but yet blame cigarette smoking. There are so many other causes of cancer that I almost believe cigarettes are definitely at the bottom in that list. I would say Air Pollution, GMO genetically modified foods, Cloned animals, Pesticides, Oil in the water, preservatives, fluoridated water, Trans Fats, chemical testing and the list goes on and on.

I would like to say that our Food Supply is not a Chemistry Set to play with!

I think its time to stand up and do something about this.

I have more articles on this subject so please have a look :)
