conditions or disorders the affect the liver and the related areas .

Usually a Gastroenterologist works with the Hepatologist

because the digestive system works in conjuction with the liver.

  • Hepatologists then complete a fellowship in hepatology where they learn about variety of
    conditions and treatments.
  • All states require licensing and graduating from an accredited medical school and passing a license examination.
  • Many Hepatologists become board certified from the American Board of Internal Medicine, they must also complete continual education on a regular basis to maintain their license and certification and stay up to date on advancement.
