What is a Portable Infrared Sauna?

Updated on October 23, 2010

Portable Infrared Sauna

Portable infrared saunas have become popular over the past few years because of a wide range of health benefits from far infrared heat. While there are many saunas that use infrared technology, most of them are not portable. Many of them are prefabricated and are easy to put together, however these are bulky and heavy and are not easy to transport. The portable infrared saunas on the other hand, are made for only one person and are very easy to transport (lightweight & folds up easy).

The best benefits that the portable infrared sauna has to offer is that just anyone can enjoy the infrared health benefits from far infrared heat no matter where they live. They're easy to transport and do not need any special electrical work, just a standard household electrical outlet.

The portable models have either carbon or ceramic emitters, which provides the necessary infrared heat to get all the great benefits. One of the great things about far infrared energy is that it goes deep in the body’s core, pushing all the bad toxins from your cells out of your pores. Another great benefit, is that unlike traditional saunas. the air does not heat up but rather your body. This also makes breathing in the sauna a whole lot easier.

Below I have listed some of the Pros and Cons of portable infrared saunas

  • Cost effective
  • Easy to install and use
  • Space saver – it can be folded and put in a closet
  • Easy to transport

  • Size – only one person can use it at a time
  • Heating technology is not as good as ones used in wood cabin saunas
