What is stress? and how can we manage this slowly killing machine.
What is stress? my way of looking at stress from my own experiences over the years, as we all know stress is your body's way of responding to any kind of demand, it can be caused by both good and bad experiences, as for me I know my stress level usual rises, when everything around me seem to be going bad.
For instant my daughter, did not get a loan to completed another year to finish college, right
away, after I read the letter, I could have feel my stress level rising, when people feel stressed by
something going on around them their bodies react by releasing chemical in the blood, according
to the expert these chemicals give people more energy and strength, which can be a good thing
if their stress is cause by a physical danger, such as finding out your husband of five years
have been cheating on you, your job downsized, your parent was hospitalized, your car need
new battery, and the list goes on.....and who causes this stress upon you... not you for sure, its
always someone else's problems.
Young people experience stress at a high rate more than older folks who been through it so
many times, and according to statistics, females more than males, I usually becomes tired for no
apparent reasons, sick, irritable and unable to concentrate, so as soon I experience these feeling,
I know it time for me to take a little time off and relax, and most of all breath.
This is how I manage my stress, I usually combine my off day with a sick day, and do absolutely
nothing.I just meditated and relax, I also make sure I eat a good breakfast, called a
friend I haven spoken too for a long, and chat the morning away, however, please remember to
stay away from caffeine and sugar because they do not help your body manage stress, do not
answer the phone especially if it's those 800 numbers (bill collectors). I love to paint, so I
usually takes out my dusty dry up paint brush and I paint, I also love to write poems, that also relaxes me.
Another thing I love to do is to sew, I have so many pattern just waiting for me to cut and sew,
from making a blouses, dresses, or something for my house, especially those
design bathroom towel with colorful embroidery, with all my children names, I takes a plain towel and designs them, it like therapy for my soul.
However, just remember that most of the time, other folks causes our stress not us, but how to deal with it, is up to each individual.... life without having a stress moment is unreal, but having to deal with it professionally or on your own... cause for strength and plenty of rest.
A life without stress, is a non existence world. so it is important to identify it and deal with it when it happen to you. "fight the good fight with all your might."
