Nairobi is the capital of Kenya and also the principal hub for economic and cultural activity in the East Africa. The city attracts very many tourists and has ample healthcare centers to cater to the needs of the local residents and those visiting it. The Nairobi Hospital, established in 1954 is recognized as a modern diagnostic and treatment center throughout East Africa. Karen Hospital at Langata Road, Nairobi is one of the fully equipped hospitals in the city that provides a wide range of quality and modern healthcare services to the patients. The hospital was set up Dr. Dan K. Gikonyo and Dr. Betty M. Gikonyo with their two close friends with a vision of revolutionizing the healthcare services available in Kenya and Africa. The hospital has an emergency department that is operational around the clock.  The specialties at the hospital include gastroenterology, neurology, pediatrics, internal medicine and a chest clinic. It also administers an HIV/AIDS treatment program, dental services, diabetes care with nutrition advice and physiotherapy.

Established by the Sisters of Mercy from Ireland, the Mater Hospital provides healthcare to the less privileged in Kenya. The Mater Hospital, founded in 1962, features an emergency unit that is reputed to be among the best in East and Central Africa. The Coptic Hospital in Nairobi, established by the Coptic Orthodox Church supplies high quality medical care at affordable prices.
