Who's Limits Are You Living By?

Updated on October 24, 2016

Live A Limitless Life

When you say you can’t do or achieve something, what does that really mean? Who has told you that you can’t or what has happened to make you believe that you can’t?

I ask myself these questions whenever I doubt my ability and in doing so soon realize that the limiting belief I am experiencing is one of my own making based on a past experience or one that I have allowed someone else to wrap me in; someone else’s limiting belief.

These limits do not serve your growth or your development. They keep you small and unnourished. They keep you locked in your comfort zone and worse still, they keep you fear ‘filled’.

How will you ever discover the possibilities for you if you do not experience the many opportunities that come your way?

How will you discover your true calling if you constantly listen to what other people tell you, you can or cannot do?

There is something quite pleasurable about stepping into the unknown, accepting you may have to fumble your way for a while before you have clarity. It’s okay! It’s allowed. It will add fruit to your tree of learning and provide you with experiences you can share with others, in turn helping them.

There is a beautiful piece that I want to share with you. It is so powerful and I believe it to be true. It is taken from Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles, Written by Marianne Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

So free yourself from the limits that people and life have set for you, free yourself from the limits you have set and learn to fly again, as you were meant to. The Sky's the limit... and be happy to break through that one too!

Live Blissfully!

“If you think you can do it, or you think you can't do it, You are right.”

Henry Ford

Thank you Cyndi10. It is important to remind ourselves and others that courage lies within us all. It is not just for the chosen few.

I couldn't agree anymore with Henry Ford's statement. This is a hub on a good topic. You did a great job of keeping it simple and easy to read without dragging it out. Voting up.

Your words are so true. We have a way of limiting ourselves. Others may have contributed to the suggestion that we can't soar, but we don't have to buy into what they are saying. It takes courage, but it lies within us all. Good hub, good advice. Sharing.
