How and Why I got into "Alternative" Health
This is my first article on here and I am so excited! I plan to write on the topic of Alternative Health among many other interests I have!
I like many other humans began to see a decline in my health and well-being starting around the age of 18. However, I would come to realize that I was never exceptionally healthy for the majority of my life. I had pretty bad acne and was rather timid and skinny, and just never quite had the energy that a lot of kids had. This got worse and worse until my freshman year in college where I finally decided that something needed to be done about this. This led to the next 5 years of soul searching combined with massive amounts of research on the human body, in particular the human nervous system and digestive system. Over these 5 years my health levels had their ups and downs but I gradually became much healthier in a time when I saw my peers becoming unhealthier. I noticed that these changes were all because of habit changes. Whatever you regularly do, think, eat, drink, etc. is what you become. This is common sense but most people never really follow through with this. They just sort of coast along like I was ignorant to our unhealthy habits. I could write about this journey for days, but that isn't really the point of this article. The important takeaway is that my health levels are increasing over time because I massively changed my diet, many of my beliefs, and other health habits all of which were rather simple, not easy, but simple. If you want to experience truly vibrant healthy then I highly suggest you look into alternative, natural ways to heal.
Why The "Alternative" Health Industry Is The Better Option
- It is far less expensive than mainstream medicine.
- In my experience it heals with lasting results much more often than mainstream medicine.
- there aren't usually long term side effects of natural ingredients like there are with drugs.
- It is SIMPLE
- It sees the big picture. It sees the body as a whole. It doesn't get lost in the details
- It is more self reliant. You learn to rely on your own health education and your body's intuition which is very empowering.
Learn From My Mistakes
I am not saying the "Alternative" Health industry is perfect as it may come off as above, because it is far from it. However, it can be much more effective than mainstream western medicine if you don't repeat these same mistakes I made.
Mistake #1 - I used far too many supplements. I wasted a lot of money before I understood that health was about a few simple processes. I thought every supplement was a miracle and would cure. This couldn't be farther from the truth.
Mistake #2 - I didn't sort through the infinite opinions on health. I was desperate and this lack of education at first led to a lot of wasted time. Find the smartest people in the industry that aren't biased, find what works for you, and always keep it simple.
Mistake #3 - I failed to realize at first the importance of the mind-body connection. Once I started seeing everything as being connected then that is when I finally started making progress.

I hope this short article opened your mind on considering other health options. Especially if regular treatments or drugs are not working for yourself and your family members. I believe the idea of health needs a major revamping in this country and I hope to be involved in that in some way.
