Why are women judged by their sizes??
Time to stop the perfect media mindset.
I was watching one of those true crime TV shows, and maybe because of my recent happenings, something struck me. Why is it when something happens to a woman, you hear things in the description of her like, petite, tiny, or large, fat? When something happens to a man, rarely, if ever, do they describe the man's body, only time I can remember that was when someone was sick. I just found it interesting, we wonder why women are so obsessed with appearance and such. I know I had my battles, and some days still do, with body image. Trust me, I can still mind screw myself.
The American research group Anorexia Nervosa & Related Eating Disorders, Inc. says that one out of every four college-aged women uses unhealthy methods to control their weight. As young girls, we get handed Barbie, don't get me wrong I loved her. Then we go to the teen, young women, and fashion magazines and we see these beautiful women, in most people's eyes, and they are tall and they are skinny. Much like I said in a past blog, most women aren't naturally like that, hell some of them aren't really like that...AIRBRUSHING!
Why did we, in the United States especially, go that look? Back in 1639, you had women that were curvy and full-figured, made famous by Pieter Pauwel Rubens. I know that Twiggy Lawson was the reason why under-weight women became the standard in the modeling world, and she was from England. Why is meat on the bones not sexy, you can be that way and be healthy. I am sure there are plenty of theories.
Yes, we all have a right to like what we like in our lovers, but why do some men, and yes some women, get into this mindset, that to be perfect you have to be a certain size. For those devout Christians, God made men/ women, dark skin/light skin, why would he make every woman a size 0? And guess what, you normally can't have that size body and breasts, breasts are fat guys. I know there are that lucky few that get both, but if you see a skinny minnie with big breasts...NEWS FLASH!!!!!! The breasts aren't usually real.
So, the moral of the story is, men you may be visual, but in reality, the average model weighs 23% less than the average American woman, 5% are model skinny. And ladies, the average Playgirl centerfold man has shed about 12 lbs. of fat, while putting on approximately 27 lb. of muscle.
FYI on our beloved Barbie: If she was a real
person, she would be 5’9” tall and weigh 110 pounds, only 76% of her
weight. Her measurements would be 39-18-33, and she likely would
not be able
to menstruate due to being underweight. Something for us all to think on!
