Why We Should Spend Time With Ourselves

Updated on September 23, 2017

We may be by nature social beings but the truth is that there are a lot of advantages in spending time on our own. Here is why.

1.Get to know yourself better

First and foremost by spending time alone you have the opportunity to know yourself better. By noticing the little things that make you who you are and have clear image of yourself you will feel much more confident when you are with other people. Moreover, you will feel more comfortable and happy if you know that you can survive by yourself and you do not need anyone which brings us to number two.

2. Building better relationships

Relationships should not be based in need. Thus if you feel ok with the fact that you can be on your own you ll probably find out that the people you "allow" to stay in your life are the ones that you really want in it. When people feel insecure about staying alone they end up struggling in wrong relationships just because of their fear of loneliness. They depend on others and when they decide to leave them they feel like their world has fallen apart. But the truth is you ar gonna be ok even if you are alone. You will appreciate a relationship better if you choose it for the right reasons.

3. Do some thinking

Its so nice having a friend to discuss but sometimes it is better to step back and think about your problems on your own. Questions like what do you want in your life, are you trying to achieve it, are you ok with the person you are with or what you want to do next, are some questions that sometimes you have to think through by yourself.

4. Become independent

Are you one of those people that want to go shopping or pay bills and need someone to be with them ? If yes, you are not the only one. A lot of people in our days are struggling with insecurities that have a bad effect in their social life. The good news: If you want to get over it, you can. Just push yourself to do a few things alone and you ll become more independent day by day. And when you do this I promise you, you ll feel stronger than ever.

5. Personal development

Last but most important of all, independent people who know theirselves very well do not struggle every day with so many insecurities. They are confident because they know their strengths and they become better by trying to improve their weaknesses.

PS. Remember that you do not need anyone to make you happy. You can be happy and share it with the one you want.
