Women's Fitness Trends for 2014

Updated on September 16, 2014

Women Want Any Workout, Anywhere!

In 2014, women's workouts will have to be more time-efficient, really budget friendly and fun to make it into the lives of women motivated to stay fit, keep their moods brighter and have more energy. Some of the hottest trends emerging in the fitness and health scene in 2013 are amped-up yoga festivals, CrossFit madness, green juices over coffee, and the year of the HIIT. (High-intensity interval training)

The importance of health and fitness is gaining greater awareness among commercial and governmental organizations who are beginning to work together in the fight against physical inactivity and obesity.

Weight Training is "IN" for 2014

Use Your Own Body for a back to basics kind of Workout

There are many health benefits to be gained by using your own body weight as a form of resistance training.

In a way, it is a very back to basics way of thinking about exercise. Remember push-ups and pull ups? A cost

free workout can actually be very appealing these days, not to mention that these basic exercises contribute greatly

to building muscle, increasing strength, developing flexibility, burning fat and boosting hearth health.

The Color Run - The Color Run is a 5K of color madness. Start out as a clean, blank canvas and finish looking like a tie dyed Jackson Pollock painting. Join the

High Intensity Interval Training - The New Trend for 2014

Why not get the most out of the time you work out?

Most women want Better Moods and More Energy! - These are just two of the many benefits of exercise

Yes, exercise will get your blood pumping and will actually leave you with MORE energy to get other things done than you had previously. Exercise of any form has been scientifically proven to cause your brain to release more endorphins. These chemicals are released by the pituitary gland in response to stress or pain release within approximately 30 minutes from the start of the activity. These endorphins tend to minimize the discomfort of exercise and are even associated with a feeling of euphoria meaning that physical activity can actually make you happier! Exercise can help with joint pain. Dancing, running, stretching, or any other exercise-based activity can relieve mild depression symptoms and get your mind off of life downers in a healthy and productive way. These activities can also help with weight loss.

101 Workouts for Women - Amazing Book Series!

How do I get in shape and stay motivated? Let me count the ways! I love this series of books. They are divided into different subject categories covering workouts, fat burning, diet, body sculpting, weights and more.

GoWearFit in 2013:The Hottest New Exercise Tracker and More!

GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management System

Do you ever wonder how many calories you just burned playing with the kids? Or how many steps you took while you were at work? GoWear fit is a clinically proven system that turns your body's everyday information into a tool to help you manage a healthy lifestyle. The GoWear fit armband measures how many calories you burn, how many steps you take, how physically active you are, and how much sleep you're getting. Your armband is a small computer that measures a variety of physical characteristics, including motion, steps, galvanic skin response, skin temperature, and heat flux. It's the only multi-sensor monitor that can accurately track: Calorie burn, physical activity, steps taken, sleep duration and sleep efficiency

HOT in 2013! TRX Suspension Training

Have you heard about TRX? The TRX is a suspension training apparatus that offers an all-body workout in 25 minutes. It is supposed to build muscle balance, joint stability, mobility, and core strength, and it was used in the 2009 season's 24 Hour Fitness gym by all the Biggest Loser couples. The TRX weighs less than 2 lbs, sets up in under a minute, and stores in a small bag so that you can use it just about anywhere. All you have to do is anchor it onto a stable door. You may also notice TRX classes on the schedule at your local gym.

Fitness DVDs are BIG on the home workout circuit - Can't go it alone? Find a small studio with classes you love!

Hard economic times means more people will work out in their homes. Gather a few friends together and add up all the money your group is saving over classes at the gym or yoga/dance studio. There are so many to choose from that you are sure to find the perfect one for your stamina and your schedule. Rent from your local library to try a few out before you make a choice. There are also many free instructional exercise videos online.

Not only are there hundreds of workout DVDs available, but now you can actually customize your own workout by mixing and matching clips from multiple sources, such as YouTube videos, fitness DVDs and downloadable workouts that are on trainer and magazine Web sites.

Many women are finding that their favorite part of the gym they joined a few years ago, was actually the dance and fitness classes. Although smaller studios are more popular for activities like yoga and pilates, aerobic dance in all forms will be making a comeback in these venues. Thanks to "Dancing with the Stars," even Ballroom Dancing will be making inroads as a viable exercise form for the smaller studio.

The BEST Workout DVDS for 2013

Workout DVDs that you can use in your own home are more popular than ever. Shorter yet higher-intensity workouts will be more appealing to those with busy schedules because they can reap significant fitness rewards with relatively minimal time investment. Boot-camp style workouts will continue to be one of the most popular of these trends in 2010, offering the ability to burn sufficiently large number of calories while simultaneously improving muscular fitness.

Thinking of buying an exercise bike?

Here are some things to consider.

Exercise bikes are great if you want to slim down and tone your legs but should you buy a recumbent or an upright exercise bike?

Recumbent bikes have a back rest and are low to the ground; therefore, they are great if you have balance problems or back problems. The recumbent lends itself to reading better than the upright bike.

A better choice for a bicyclist would be an upright bike because it feels more like an outdoor bike. than the recumbent bikes do. If you like to read while doing your cardio-vascular workout a recumbent bike is a better choice. Upright bikes usually take up less space than recumbent bikes.

You will want some resistance levels. You may get as many as 20 on some machines. In general I find that the resistance of bikes is very different than that of an elliptical machine. Level 4 on a bike is much more challenging than level 4 on an elliptical.

In general the more money you pay the more workouts you will get. However one top of the line model may give you 15 workouts and another model may give you 5.

A Great Exergame for Moms to Play with their Kids

Wild Planet Hyper Dash

Wild Planet Hyper Dash consists of one electronic tagger and five different colored and numbered targets. The tagger plays pre-recorded music and calls out which targets you need to strike. It tracks the amount of time taken to complete each course. Hyper Dash can be played indoors or outdoors; solo, in pairs, or in teams. As your speed, skill and agility improve, the series of commands becomes longer and more challengingEvery game has encouraging cheers and upbeat music to keep kids on their feet, expending energy and having fun.

2014: The Year of The Trampoline

Trampolines have come a long way since their invention by a young boy who was intrigued with the ability of aerialists to bounce in a net and perform artistic maneuvers. George Nissen, a tumbler and gymnast, took the sport to a whole new level when he placed the nets with canvas strung in a metal frame. Over the years, the canvas has been replaced by nylon weave, and the frames are made lighter and more stable. Today, trampolines come in many styles and sizes for all age groups. Health experts are urging children and adults to exercise more in 2010. Trampolines are a great choice because they seem like more fun than exercise. Full exercise routines can be performed on a mini trampoline and can target all body parts.

cardio is the least effective way to lose weight, you're better off changing your brain first

then changing your diet andif you do it, don't do much...less than 30 min total and only a few days a week.

Wow, great lens! You give me so much to think about. The exercise machine I've been using lately and give my recommendation to is the Brenda Dygraf Air Climber exercise machine. It is relatively small, inexpensive and most off all, actually fun to use!
