What will happen if a person spit on someone's face?

    Any penalty, consequences or punishment?

Well there should be, it's a disgusting and disrespectful thing to do to anyone, no one deserves that. I can't believe people would lower themselves to do something as disgusting as this.

Well, there isn't any penalty by lie, nor consequences, or punishment, however, it is disrespect - and I'm sure the other person won't take it lightly, he/she might want to "fight" or do something else.

depending on who did it and why would make the reaction differ. if it is some guy who was being ignorant and did it, i'd knock them out.

I believe somethings and some punishments should be left to God. If someone would do such a lowly thing then the other person should try (although its not easy) to stay calm and leave the matter to God. And I am sure God's spit will come to teach that person a  lesson

if it was me, a physical confrontation. But for someone else you can get a criminal case and sue that person for battery or something like that, but if someone spit in my face im busting heads

Any number of things could happen. Holy crap, what a disgusting thing to do. But if it happened to me, I'd have to agree with yellsluvsFASHION. Definitely a Physical confrontation..

To me, that signifies trouble irrespective of who did it. but my action depends on what caused the person to spit on my face.
anyhow my reaction wont be pleasant... its either i do the same or i do worse.

A fight.  I guess it would depend on the circumstances, but I don't think too many people would tolerate that kind of disrespect.

I cannot honestly work out what would drive a person to do something so completely disgusting.

I will point out that over here in the UK, I recently saw a notice on a bus, which stated:

"We carry DNA testing kits on these buses. If you spit at the driver, we can retain your DNA and hand it to the Police. This is assault".

Why on Earth would someone spit on anyone else, bus driver or whatever? Normal human beings simply do not act in that way.  It is beyond my comprehension why we need notices on buses reminding people this is wrong.

Sadly, there are people around who think this sort of behaviour is not only acceptable, but a reasonable course of action to something they consider "annoying".

Personally, if anyone spat in my face I would step back, issue them with a look of complete contempt and then walk away from that person with dignity intact. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of responding.

If it were a "friend" of mine who did it, I would remove that person from my life, if it were an enemy I would make sure to avoid them for all eternity and if it were a stranger, I would not wish to embark on any kind of conversation. Whatever, I would not allow that person to make any particular difference in my life.

I am a believer in karma. What goes around, comes around.

Peace and love, mote it be xxx

I have worked in a position and such a thing did take place with one of my co-workers, here in Canada, the person who did the spitting was charged with assault.
This may differ somewhat because this particular spitter did have HIV.  My co-worker had to take shots for some time so he did not develop the disease.

If it's a man I would severly sever his head, ribs, and vital organs. If it is a woman I'll spit back in her face.. Needles to say I wouldn't respond lightly to that insult, matter of fact just thinking about it raises aggression in my nervous system.

I am sure someone would get a slap in the face after that......but if they happen to have AIDS........and the person were to be linked to you getting the disease.........do you think he or she would be charged with Murder?.........I have heard of this before but it wasn't for spiting it was from having un protected sex after knowing that they had AIDS and still slept with the person or persons and didn't tell them.............SO.....you make up your mind...............Spiting is discusting........

After they get hit or cursed at, I'm sure you could file a charge against them if you could prove it.  At the very least the police could give them a warning that would hopefully stop them in the future.  Very funny question, but you got lots of answers!

in the UK, there is a penalty if you spit on someone. And most tubes and trains has kit to collect spit, so it can use an evidence on court.

Oh goodness, I witness this before!  At a restaurant that I work at during the summer time - there is an old greek woman who speaks NO english - she's probably in her 70's and she works as a bus woman from 7 in the morning until 12 at night when we close for the whole entire summer season (may through october)
She's the most hard working woman I have ever met!  Well, a few summers ago she believed that one of the waitresses was ripping her off - shorting her a few dollars.  So the old woman went up to the waitress and ended up spitting in her face.

No punishment was done to the old lady, however the waitress did run out of the diner crying her eyes out.

Who knows if the waitress really shorted her!

No doubt the intentional spitting and throwing of your waste like your urine or stool on someone's face constitutes an insult and it is punishable offense in many jurisdictions, unless the said wastes are deemed to be perfumes in some countries.

  23. mdlawyer profile image45
    mdlawyerposted 13 years ago

The criminal liability depends on the intention of the doer.  If it happens without your intention to spit on his/her face, then it is not punishable.  But it is your liability to prove that it was an unintentional mistake on your part.   If it is an intentional act, it is punishable for criminal force/battery/assault

If you spit on a policeman you get immediate arrest. Spit on my you get your tongue ripped out and your teeth shoved throught the back of your head... Right before I go get tested for any possible diseases that may have transferred. I prefer the consequences I offer...

Depends on the person and how well armed the spitter is. if you spit in an aussies face be prepared for a fist to come back at yours.

Consequences will be worse and forget the punishment or penalty.   Being  an aftermath issue,  it may lead to shootout  in case  any  of them is in possession of a weapon.

If someone spit on someone's face he/she could be arrested for assault with bodily fluids.

Disgusting? Most of us think so.

The Nazarene teacher said that if anyone slaps you, to turn the other cheek. So, if someone spits in your face, could you offer them another shot?

In the bestselling novel, Dune, by Frank Herbert, the planet of the same name is utterly dry. Water is worth more than its weight or volume in gold. In one scene, the hero thinks he will insult someone who is treating him poorly. He spits in the man's face, but his insult backfires. The belligerant suddenly is struck with awe that someone who he had mistreated would "share his water" with him. The book's hero had inadvertently given his enemy the greatest of compliments.

So, the next time someone spits in your face, feel free to thank them for their compliment. The one who thinks he is insulting you may find himself suddenly self-aware. And that truly is a blessing.

Saliva, like blood, carries lots of nasties. It is assault to spit on anyone. And to retaliate, by punching someone because they spit on you is assault of a higher number and could get you in more trouble than the one doing the spitting. Slap them really hard, or call it in. The lessons that people learn from are the ones they have to live with!!! Anyone who spits is at someone else has earned the title of "UNBALANCED".
