While exercising can certainly help, especially an anaerobic workout, you should look into why you hit a plateau in the first place.
The reason why people hit plateaus is simple. As humans we love our routines. The problem is, the human body is not built for routine, it is built for evolution (constant stress/change).
If you don't put a stress on your body, how can it change? I see examples of this all the time in the gyms. Women love to go on the elliptical for 30 minutes, then they follow through with their favorite machines for the next 30 minutes. Repeat 3-5x/week.
Then they wonder why they get no results.
Bottom line: keep changing things up and push hard. Stress your body so it can do what it is naturally built for, evolution.
Short answer: throw curve balls in your diet. Stop doing the same eating pattern every day. 1-2x/week you need to eat a very high-carb high-calorie meal. This will certainly jumpstart your weight loss again!
