I recently learned my 8-year-old twin daughters have learning disabilities. It has given me a sense of relief knowing that there is a reason, that they aren't just stubborn or something.
One of my biggest challenges in dealing with it is just the fact that there are two of them, not just one, and they are constantly bickering. They also practically refuse to do their homework, and it's difficult to get them to listen.
On a positive note, however, I have never received any complaints from their teachers or any other authority figures; they are always perfect angels in public. I'm thankful for that.
An interesting thing about this is that I was prescribed the anti-depressant Zoloft when I was pregnant with them, and now there are advertisements saying that Zoloft during pregnancies may cause the child(ren) to have learning disabilities.
I do not know if that is the cause, but it doesn't matter if it was or not, because they're my babies and I will do whatever it takes to help them with their difficulties.
I hope this made sense and answered your question.
