Is there a Doctor in the house - I need a good remedy for back pain?

What would you recommend to cure or reduce the pain from back problems, resulting from slouching over the computer for long periods?

You have a lot of options to choose from.  You may want to try a chiropractor.  There is also the option of massage therapy, or energy healing therapy, such as Reiki, Pranic Healing, or Sound Healing Therapy.  Of course you should get checked by a medical doctor.  These alternative therapies are nice compliments to Western medicine.

two tylenol (acetominophen), a hot bath with a good 20 minute soak, and don't do that again. some back and stomach strengthening and stretching on a regular basis may help prevent recurrence. a good exercise to start with is the pelvic tilt.

if you are looking for a comfortable position while recovering, lie flat on your back with a pillow under your knees and no more than a 4" pillow under your head. standing is not bad. sitting is the worst.

i believe it's the academy of medicine which just came out with a position statement recommending that doctors not do back x-rays for back pain lasting less than 6 weeks unless there is some associated weakness or numbness of legs or a bladder problem. i wouldn't bother to see a doc for plain old back strain.

Do some dead lifts with some really small weights to strengthen it.

Trouble is there are always too many Doctors in the 'internet' house to give you conflicting advice.

If the back pain is due to slouching- then warm bath, back massage, couple of paracetamols ( acetaminophen) or brufen ( ibuprofen) and stretching exercises would do the job.

IF the pain stops you from moving it is better to do the bath and pain killers first and then gradually start moving and stretching. the more movement ( within limits) the sooner the muscles recover.

Now this may sound silly, but take a lime, cut it in half,  and rub it where it hurts. It has taken away a lot of my neck pains and head aches in the past smile

Dude, it's not good for you - but you can get narcotic pills if you can grimace good enough in front of any doctor that asks you to bend over a bit.

See a Chiropractor and learn good posture if you want the healthy way out.

oh, i experience the same thing. i always experience back pain especially if I am stuck in front of the computer for 8 hours and more. I am not a doctor. I am also clueless about it. all i know is i am experiencing it because of my big belly. I used to be slim and no back pains at all. Try to move and exercise. that is what i am doing now and i felt like everyday jogging and trying out some sport can eased my back pains smile

All you need is a rest, some pain killer and use vix oil or ointment to be rubbed by someone gently on your back then try to put a good cover on yourself.

For the position, you might lay on your back as cathylynn has mentioned or you just face the wall with a good billow under your head bending your legs and putting your knees together near your tummy. You search for the position that is more comfortable for your self.
