There are a variety of diet pills. Some are all natural with vitamins, minerals, and herbs. Others contain stimulants which can increase your heart rate and blood pressure. These include those that contain caffeine, phentermine, ephedra, and more. Still yet, others contain fat blockers that cause intestinal cramping, gas, and diarrhea.
As a nutritionist, I would not recommend diet pills for a variety of reasons:
(1) They do not teach good eating habits.
(2) They become addictive.
(3) The body become accustomed to them where more are needed for the same results.
(4) The decrease thyroid function resulting in hypothyroidism with prolonged usage.
(5) They devastate the metabolism with prolonged usage, making it more difficult to lose body fat in the future.
