It's all in your posture and how you carry yourself. I know some really short people with bad backs

Many people seem to have bad backs. Maybe it's because of our lifestyles. I think we sit too much and move too little.

Hi. Yes it is quite common. I think because tall people often have to stoop and bend a lot further than those who are shorter. Having said this, no matter what your height if you stoop, twist and also lift weights while doing so it will injure your back - usually not immediately, it is a cummulative injury that builds up over the years.

I think there are a lot of factors to consider, but it does seem to be common. I'm 6'4, and I've had lower back problems for years, which goes back to getting hit from behind playing hockey (in a rec game without a referee or a scorekeeper -- I'm still quite sour about it).

I think posture has a lot to do with it, as I notice a lot of tall people with poor posture, and after spending the day having to bend over to use counters or tables, or ducking through doors, it can gradually do some damage. It's certainly preventable though. I don't believe all tall people are doomed to have back problems (unless you're an absolute giant like Shaq).

I am 5'10" and find that I have to bend a lot further than most of my workmates. I work as a nursery nurse and am constantly lifting up babies and toddlers. I have a lot of back pain with all of the lifting and laying I do. I think part of it has to do with my height, having to bend down so much when putting small children in their cots and beds.

I think it depends on the posture and not how tall a person is...

i am 6.3 feet and at the age of 30 i have no problem. i thin proper exercise and yoga is not only good for tall but also for any one as pain and relief are related to all of us.

I'm 6 feet tall and I do feel some sort of discomfort or soreness in back from time to time. I'm guessing it's due to my height.
