Asperger's Syndrome is a high functioning form of Autism. Typically the individual is verbal and functional but struggles to relate to others appropriately in social situations. I have worked with the Autistic population for well over a decade and the formal diagnosis of Asperger's is rare. It is best to identify the maladaptive behaviors that a person displays and treat the behavior, not the label. A person with Asperger's may not require intensive intervention if their quality of life is in tact.
