   An Exercise For Lower Back Pain/Stiffness?
   
   Any hubbers have a recommended exercise for lower back pain and stiffness? The stiffness is really due to being dumb the other day. I was stooping for too long doing some gardening and my lower back has stiffened up. There is a bit of discomfort but nothing severe.and full range of movement not too difficult.

   Try laying on your back and slowly drawing your knees to your chest. Hold for a few seconds, careful not to pull them in too hard. Release and repeat a few times. This will stretch those muscles while they are supported.

   Lower back pain would benefit from doing regular day to day exercise to prevent from stiffness, weakness, and further loss of mobility. There is no particular exercise programme. You could pick up any exercise you enjoy and stick to it. For example, walking is a simple exercise that anyone can do. If you keep doing it, you would see beneficial improvement.

   The Lumber Rub
   
   Rub your hands together until they are very hot then place them on your lower back and rub with some force up and down to keep the heat on. Once cooled stop and start the process again. This relieves stiffness and pain and also invigorates the kidneys and improves their processes when performed regularly

   As you are saying your  lower back stiffness is really due to stooping for too long some gardening work. It happens to me too when I work in my garden. So I wil say you need relax, lie on your back and do oil massage. Take hot shower, it will be fine within a day or two.

   I find going swimming helps ease lower back pain. Hope it feels better soon!

   A heating pad and some more gardening will loosen the muscles up and relieve the pain. A few sit-ups a day will help keep it from recurring.

   The best thing I have found for my lower back that behaves the same way, is an exercise ball. Large and not to filled with air. Just firm, bounce a few times, lean back over the ball like doing a back bend. Stretch and twist helps also. Lie flat on your back and brink one leg up, bending at the knee, lay it over the other, touch the bent knee to the bed. Repeat with the other side.
   
   This is one of the worse areas to hurt as far as I am concerned. But I do know the more we can move and stretch the easier it gets. The pool is a great place to work those muscles.

   I usually lie on my back on a hard floor without a pillow, lift both legs vertically and place them on top of a stool for 20 minutes to ease the pressure in lower parts of my back. It helps a lot for those with a slipped disc.

    One of the best exercises for lower back pain, is sit-ups and/or curls.  Both of these stretch and also strengthen your back muscles.  In addition to exercise, I use ice on my back and it really works.
