Most 12 step groups have tradition of anonymity. When these groups started, addictions carried so much of a stigma, and attendance to these groups could cause public ridicule, loss of jobs, etc. You were considered insane. But now, these are accepted as diseases and are more understood as symptoms of underlying problems. I respect other people's anonymity, however , I'm pretty free about my own. I believe breaking my anonymity is a help for prevention by example. What do you think?
