   What are some natural home remedies for allergies?
   
   My allergies are really bad this year.  What home remedies have you tried and did they seem to work?

   I find nasal rinsing with salt water very effective. Some people go all out and buy neti pots but you can help clear allergens from your nasal passages by putting a little bit of salt in luke warm water, gently closing one nostril and sniffing the water up the other nostril. Make sure to spit it out afterwards if you can, otherwise you will end up with an upset stomach.
   
   Also, although not technically a home remedy, nothing beats regular vacuuming and keeping windows closed during times of peak pollen count.

      I took your advice a got a neti pot.  It is not fun to use, but it seemed to soothe my sore sinuses.  I decided to keep using it for at least a week and perhaps write a hub about my experience.  Thanks.

   I just recently gave up sugar and my allergies are the best that they've been in years.  Another thing that always helped me is to take stinging nettle.

   I've read that eating locally produced honey can, over time, reduce pollen allergies. The trick is getting local honey! I bought some from our local Amish, only to discover they had shipped it in from PA!

   Using nettle on a regular basis will help to soothe allergies. It has a natural antihistamine chemical contained in it. I agree with using the Neti Pot. It is weird at first, but you get use to it, and you will come to love it (hopefully).  I do not have allergies, but my husband does, so I created an allergy tea years ago. It has helped him, and many others.
