I think there are three reasons why the war against obesity is being lost.
1. The cheaper food is the more fattening food. Most people are cutting costs
on their grocery biill instead of other areas, AND food prices continue to rise
while salaries have flat-lined.
2. People are getting little or no exercise. Children and teens are spending more
time in front of the computer, xbox, ps2, tv and dvd/dvr players. Video games
keep our children occupied but they don't get any physical exercise.
3. Most don't take the time to buy and cook good wholesome food. Their lives are
so busy, rushing from place to place, they just don't take the time to prepare
good nourishing food. Instead, they grab something on the run, which is
usually fast food, high in fat and calories and low in nutritional value.
People have good intentions and I truly believe they want to eat healthier and get more exercise, but because of their lifestyle and the economy, they lack the motivation to make any real or long-term changes.
